Au Pair's Message to Families

Hi there! First off it is important that it is known that I AM NOT AVAILABLE FOR ATLEAST 14 MONTHS (so around August of 2010). I know that is a ways away but there is no harm in still looking and interviewing. My name is Valerie and I have always been around and great with children. I grew up with quite a large family, six brothers and sisters so I have been around all age groups all my life. I currently nanny for a great family in New York and I love it. There is one child and the second due in August. He is going to be two this Agugust and is just a very happy baby. They also have a large German Shepard and he has stolen my heart. I do anything and everything they ask me to because that is what I am here for. The great thing is that I am like a big sister and I love it because I fit in so well here, I feel like I have been here forever, in a good way. With kids I take what you do and I do the same, the way they are fed, disciplined, anything because they need consistency in their lives and I am able to provide that. I used to nanny for my old high school teacher. She has three children, twins that are going to be five soon and another who is almost two. I do have premie experience since the twins were premies and I have nannied for them since their infancy. I do everything while I am working. I clean, cook, drop the twins off at their school two days a week, feed and change the baby, play with them, read to them, really anything and everything. They have a dog as well so I do take her out on walks and feed her and all that good stuff. I am really up for anything. I love all kids at all ages and yes I know some are more difficult at certain ages but I just like to have fun with them. My interests include reading any and all books, I love doing crafts, I love just being with my friends and family playing cards or just watching television. I am a very easygoing person and I am easily entertained. How I got into nannying was very simple since I have a large family and I have always had a knack for children. I graduated from Grandville High School in 2004 where I was involved in National Honors Society, I was the President of our Student Council, I was a Freshman Ambassador, and I was a cheerleader.
