Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear host family My name is Charlene . I am 26 years old and I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I live with my mom Rosemere, she is 45 years old, my dad Adão, he is 55 years old and my sister Aline, she is 24 years old. I have another brother. His name is Anderson. He is 23 years old. He lives with his girlfriend, Rose. We are a very close family. We enjoy doing everything together. About my experience with kids I worked at a day care during 1 year, from August 2007 to August 2008. It was very important to me and working with kids is always a pleasure. Of course it is a big responsibility, but they´re so cute and sweet ! While I worked at the day care there were some kids very special to me. One of these kids was Leonel. When I started taking care of him he was 11 months. When I left the day care he was almost 2. I used to change his diapers, to bathe and to feed him. Sometimes I prepared his meals: bottle and teaspoon.We had a great time together. He was so sweet. During this same time I took care of Nathália,Yuri and some other kids. Nathália was a difficult girl, but she was very smart and happy. She was 4 years old. Yuri was 3 years old. He was a smart boy and very handsome too. There were days we had 15 kids at the day care center. I used to work there during the afternoons. When I arrived at day care I started feeding them. After the lunch time it was their time to sleep. They used to sleep for 1 hour: from 1:30 p.m to 2:30 p.m. When they wake up we did some activities together. The activities were divided according to the age of each kid. When it was 4:00 p.m they had a break time. They ate a snack, some juice, etc. At 4:30 p.m was bathing time and at 05:00 p.m the mothers started to arrive. I love playing with the kids and that´s one of the things I used to do with them. Sometimes I selected some short tales with songs. Other days we built cities with plasticine. We enjoyed it a lot ! During the weekend sometimes I take care of Vivian. Now she is 7 years old, but she was 3 when I started taking care of her. We always leave home to walk and see different places. We love visiting bookstores together. We can spend hours reading about new books. I always encourage her to find interesting tales books. Especially, books to her age. As I´m about to finish my college course of Letters (Language and Literature), in October 2008 I started as a trainee in a regular school near my house. I worked as a trainee there from October 2008 to December 2008. In December I was invited by the principal to work there as a regular teacher. He liked my work with the kids and he wanted me to be a regular teacher next year (2009). From February 2009 until now I have been working teaching English for kids from 4 to 14 years old. Currently I have been working in a regular school and at a Language school. It has been a great experience too. At the Regular school I teach portuguese and English. I teach kids from 4 to 13 years old. At the Language school I teach English to kids from 8 to 12 years old. I always try to search interesting activities to do with my students: from spelling games to board games. Working with kids is something refreshing to me. At home I love cooking and trying new recipes. I´d like to cook some special recipes for you and your family. Brazilian food is very healthy and delicious. I´m sure they will love it ! Now I feel I´m prepared to be an au pair. I think it´ll be a great experience. I´ll have opportunity to improve not only in my professional life but also as a person too. I intend to work as an au pair through Au Pair Care (APC) agency or Expert AuPair. I intend to be CPR certified soon. I just can´t wait to spend one year (or more) with your family.
