Dear family. I'm a Danish girl who currently is in school, but is graduating summer 2010 and is planning to spend about a year or more as an au pair. I study English and Spanish, and am speaking English pretty well, but my Spanish isn't what I would like it to be. As my definition of living is traveling, meeting new people and cultures, and as I love children, I think being an au pair would be the right thing for me to try. I'm looking for a lovely family who would like hosting an au pair in order to get a new "member" of the family. I think I would fit best with a relaxed, outgoing, fun and trustworthy family who is interested in their children and doesn't want me to take over the parenting role, but just needs an extra pair of hands and an older sister for their children.
I've been baby sitting since I was 14 and I love it! I think children are funny and honest and I like how quickly they open up to me (usually they don't need more than a smile and some interest). I've been babysitting babies, toddlers and children up to 12 years, so I know how to change diapers, feed them, dress them etc. I furthermore come from a warm family with many children in all ages so I'm used to talk to, play and be around children.
My favourite ages are the young children, toddlers and infants because I enjoy to follow and be a part of their big development as time goes by. I like the bit older children as well because it gives more variety in what I’m able to play and do with them and they understand more :) Children tend to like me as I don't mind act silly, play and make up new games in spite of the fact that I'm able to set boundaries if necessary. I've lived by myself since I was almost to 18 (moved to get closer to my school), so I know how to do most chores as well as cooking and I’m independent and responsible. I like to think of myself as social (though I like and need to be alone sometimes too), happy, caring, patient, honest, funloving, positive and I imagine that I have an great sense of humor ;)
When I’m not in school I enjoy doing swimming, to play soccer, music/movies, going out with friends, spending time with my family and I’m furthermore working in a women’s clothing store (been working there for almost 4 years), baby sitting and am cleaning an apartment for a family. Most of all I LOVE to travel and do it as often as I can.
My primary goal for the time as au pair is to improve my Spanish and/or English (to learn a 4th languages would be a plus), to help/spend time with a nice family and simply just to expand my horizon. I also think it will give me some life experience which I need to follow my dream of being accepted at the danish film academy in order become a documentary instructor.
I think living with a native family is the best and most authentic way to get to learn the language, people and the local culture. I adjust easily and am prepared to make an effort to fit in, as well as sharing my own culture if you are interested. If you think I could be the one you need or if you want to know more, please feel free to send me an e-mail :)
Thanks for your time, Nanna |
