Au Pair/Nanny job description

We would like an au pair or au pair couple to take care of our 2 sons for 5 days a week. You will be responsible for the boys for most of the day outside school, including meal times, dressing, bathing etc. (Isaac is in full time school, and Max will start part-time in January) We would also expect you to take care of their laundry & tidy their rooms. As part of our family we would also like you to help out with housework, cooking & day to day chores.

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

My name is Suzi, I'm 37 & live with my husband Al & our sons Isaac who is nearly 5 and Max aged nearly 3. We live together with 2 enormous but very freindly dogs, 4 cats & a varying number of chickens, on a private island in the South West of France, about an hours drive from Bordeaux. We run our own holiday business & boat building business from here. We have had au pairs living with us since Isaac was 3 months old. We think we are quite easy going and happy to let you get on with looking after our children without us looking over your shoulder, within their well established routines. We value initiative very highly and wouldn't like to think that we would have to tell you what to do on a day to day basis. Our ideal au pair will be fun and freindly, with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. Both boys are happiest when occupied. They love to play outside with a ball, or climb things, build lego, read books, bake or just run about making a noise! Tantrums get the better of them sometimes of course, so you would need to be firm, consistent and fair (even if they doesn't necessarily agree!). They are however very cute and loving, and like to make people laugh. We hope that you'll become a member of the family, a healthy regard for chocolate & red wine would be a disticnt advantage! It is very isolated and rustic where we live so this position wouldn't be suitable for someone looking for life in a big city.
