Au Pair job description

We would like you to have an interest in child development and enjoy creative play with children. Your duties would include all day to day care of the child, playing with the children, bath time, cooking and laundry for her, cleaning up after her and taking her to local playgroups, park, etc. You will be in sole charge so you will need at least a year’s experience looking after similar aged children. You will have a good command of English and Portuguese language would be a great advantage, be a non-smoker, have excellent checkable references from other people in the UK and a First Aid certificate would be also an advantage. The housekeeping duties will involve full cleaning duties including mopping floors, hoovering and cleaning bathroom and ironing. You should therefore be happy and able to carry out these duties as part of your role. I am looking for a capable person to help keep a small house clean and tidy.

Family's Message to Au Pairs

Dear Au Pair, We are a crazy family that needs some help with the young daughter. We are a very young and relaxed family. We need some help in taking care of our little girl who has 1 year old. The father, a bit crazy, is working in the film/media industry and travels a lot. The mother who has 28 years old, works as news editor and cameraman in the university. She also teaches stop motion animation to young children in the weekends. We like travel and knowing different cultures and we think is important to our daughter growing up near of different persons with different backgrounds and languages. In September we are going to move to London and the mother is returning to the university to study a different subject. We are going to need a huge help in the daily routine. Our hobbies are our work. We love doing movies, going to film festivals, workshops... stuff like that. We do other things too, of course, like travelling with friends inside and outside our country, going out having a drink, going to the movies and some art exhibitions, shopping, watching TV, music, theatre... so many things. The Father is a little crazy and funny. He is always doing some stupid things and saying funny things. He is like a big child. He was born in Paris but his parents are Portuguese and he is very strange because of that. He likes big cities and hate small towns because he can't get or buy anything he needs. He likes science fiction themes, cartoons, horror movies, bd and other things. The mother is more a small town girl but with the facilities of a greater one. She loves awaking with the sound of the birds but wants to buy bread in the other side of the road. She likes more Gothic themes like Tim Burton's movies and Edgar Allan Poe's stories but she's not a Gothic girl as you can imagine. She's a very normal girl! Now... about the baby. We don't have many things to say... she's a baby! But she likes music, walking in the park, playgrounds and all the animals she can hug but mainly cats and dogs. I hope you know lots of songs because she is never tired of singing! She doesn't have any allergies or special needs. We think she's quite normal but.. well... she was born in Halloween... We hope that the Au Pair could help us with some light house work, some cooking and taking care of our baby with the same love we have. It would be a great help to the mother and a warm companion when the father is not around. We are starting a new life so we are not going to have the same amenities we used to have in Portugal.
