Nanny's Message to Families

Dear Family, Hi, my name is Ian and I am from the U.K, currently in Australia. I have been working in childcare for over 12 years in many types of environment. These have included working in nursery/kindergartens, preschools, after school settings and as a nanny. I have a high level childcare qualification and have also studied animal care, so I don’t mind pets! I enjoy working as a nanny out of all the experiences that I have had while working with children. I especially like the one-one of working with children in the home and also the relationships that I have built up with the parents I have worked for and would hope to become friends with you to. I have recommendations from people I have worked for that I am happy to send to you. At the moment I am currently staying with friends in Melbourne helping with their 3 children, whilst I do some travelling. My last nanny position in the UK was for a busy family with four children, who lived in a large country house. As both parents had high powered careers, I had to deal with anything from the plumbing to moving furniture, as well as look after the children. I am happy to do the normal nanny chores and any housework that does not take away time spent with the children. As you can probably imagine I can turn my hand to most things! I am a fun loving person who gets on with children and I try to connect with them at their level. I have a great sense of humour and I like to enjoy myself but I also have a mature side. I have a real passion for books and for travelling, so give me a guide book I very happy. I also like to be creative when I get the time and I like to encourage children in my care to also be creative as I think this is important in a child’s development. I am returning to the UK around Jan'08 and would be looking for something in Canada some time after that.
