| Hi,
We are a family of 3, my husband Aernoud, me and our little daughter Maud who will be 1 in december. She is very sweet, is laughing all the time and is easy going. Since march we have an au pair from Beijing, XiaoXian. She takes care for our daughter 4 days a week and cooks easy to make food and does some laundry. During these 4 days she often goes walking with her friends (students and other au pairs in Breda) because she can easily take Maud out and Maud likes to go out.
Once a week XiaoXian follows an English course and in the weekend she often goes visiting other cities like Amsterdam, Antwerp, Koln in Germany. She also visited France with us and will go to Italy and Paris in autumn. From Breda where we live, all those cities are close by and easy to visit. Well, Europe is small and easy to travel especially since flight tickets are cheap.
At home we have a lot of fun! we always eat together, also chinese food, and and she knows our friends and family. She is just part of the family. My family knows quite a lot about China since we all visited China some times and my brother lived in Beijing and Shanghai and speaks fluent Chinese. Sometimes XiaoXian is homesick and misses her family and friends, but according to her she almost is not homesick, luckily. Only in the beginning a few times when everything was quite new and she did not know as many people as she does now after some months
She already learned a lot of English. You know that in Holland we speak Dutch but everybody is almost fluent in English too, so Holland is a good country to learn English as well. The best thing about Holland is that you can get around really easy: take the bike, go to the city centre or to other cities by train. We live in the centre of Breda so a lot of things close by like shops and cinema. Rotterdam is half an hour by train, Antwerp 45 by bus, Amsterdam 1,5 hour by train, Paris only 3 hours by train. And people are always very helpfull in the streets. If you have any questions just look at a website . It is a website for Chinese students and others who like to go to or already live in Holland. They often organise trips in Holland as well and XiaoXian made some new friends trough the website.
beye! Oh, before I forget: Xiao Xian will go back to Beijing in march so from march 2009 we are looking for a new au pair Ina, Aernoud and Maud |
