Au Pair/Nanny job description

Our au pair needs to be mature, experienced and trustworthy as she will often be alone with the children since the mother is working part-time. We have two lively and affectionate daughters. Our au pair should be energetic, creative and like the outdoors. Main duties are focused on the children when they are home (e.g. preparing meals, going for walks, walking the kids to school/kindergarten, helping with homework, playing, teaching, reading together, arts & crafts, etc..). Light housework is also needed when the girls are in school (e.g. laundry, light cleaning, some settling, shopping). You should feel comfortable driving (not that difficult in our village and we have an automatic) since you might need to occasionally drive. You should be able to cook simple & healthy meals for children. Ability to swim, provide first aid, speak English and speak/write German is needed.

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

We are a Swiss-American family living in a house just outside of Zürich. We have had au pairs helping our family for several years and our current one will be leaving next July. Most important for us is that you really care for the children and truly enjoy being with them. Public transportation is readily available from our house to the city. We have a separate floor/entry for our au pair. You would have a bedroom, a small kitchenette and private bathroom. In addition, you would have a TV, DVD and access to our computer. We offer a competitive salary and several benefits (e.g. four weeks paid vacation in a year).
