| Au Pair job description |
| We are looking for a loving, fun, open-minded, responsible, assertive, French Au Pair for the 2009-2010 schoolyear. Our 4 children love the Au Pair system and have made their previous and current Au Pairs part of their world. Olivier, 12, is an energetic, outdoorsy kid. Sarah is a bubbly, affectionate 10-year-old. Juliette is a sweet and caring 8-year-old. Margaux, 6, is pure fun and sparkles. We enjoy many activities: karate, swimming, going to parks, fishing, biking, skating, skiing, tobogganning, reading, going to museums... We treat our Au Pairs as grown-up, responsible family members. We trust their judgement and decisions and we appreciate their input. We hope to make you part of our family!
We will reactivate our membership in the Spring of 2009. |
| Family's Message to Au Pairs |
| Chère Au pair, We are a busy family with four children looking for a French-speaking Au Pair for the 2009-2010 schoolyear. We are separated with joint custody of our children, who spend one week at Mom's house and one week ad Dad's house (within a few miles), and you will be following the children on their weekly commute ;-) Both parents get along well and consider the well-being of the children as their top priority - you may cease to be a couple, but you never cease to be parents! We speak French at home, English in our neighborhoods and with many of our friends, and our children go to French school. Ottawa is a bilingual city and we have both French- and English- speaking friends. Join us for a year and see for yourself! You'll be working an average of 7 hours a day, five days a week, plus one night a week. In the summer you will spend the day with the children, mainly at the pool, you may go on bike rides, play at the park, go to the beach, etc. During the schoolyear you will get the kids ready for school and drive them there at 8:00. You'll be free to do your own things during the day and you will pick up the children at school at 2:30. You'll then play with them, supervise homework, bathtime and occasionnally dinner (that's between 3:00 and 6:00 at the latest). You'll then help with the bedtime routine (a story, a cuddle, and lights out). You'll be responsible for lunchboxes and cleaning up after the children. You will have your own room complete with a laptop computer, unlimited high-speed Internet connection, a and a TV. You will have use of a car to drive the children to and from school and activities. We are looking for a cheerful, active person willing to have a fun time with our children and enjoy their presence. We want to welcome you as part of our family. Many of our friends have Au Pairs (mostly from Mexico, France and Germany) so there is a whole social network waiting for you to join in!!! We have had three wonderful Au Pairs from France and it has been a great experience for everybody. We do realize our family arrangement might be perceived as unusual and our current Au Pair will be happy to share her experience with you and answer any questions you may have. If you are a member you can look at our online interview - if you are not, just add us to your Hot List and we will send it to you. We are looking forward to another year with an Au Pair! Please look at our online photo gallery. We hope to talk to you soon - we are on messemger and Skype. We will gladly provide you with our former Au Pairs' email so that you can find out from them what it is like to join our family (and its two households!) Note that you will need to come via the Programme Vacances-Travail (Canada- France, Canada- Switzerland, Canada- Belgium) in order to legally be an Au Pair in Canada (details on the Government of Canada's web site, ministry of Foreign Affairs, or on the French, Swiss or Belgian Embassies web sites. Applications are available online twice a year, Spring and Fall). Looking forward to chatting with you! |
