| *We are hoping to find an au pair without using an agency, thanks!*
*We would like to find someone to begin in January 2009*
Our family is myself, my husband Jack, and our two boys, Will and Nick. Nick is a wonderful little boy who is almost always smiling. He is a very gentle boy who is extremely independent; he was born an "old soul". To us he is the perfect toddler--he never throws tantrums, he shares toys, and says "please." He is very advanced for his age, reading at a 5- or 6-year old level, and entertains himself very well. He is very easy and fun to take care of! Will is our "live teddy bear." He laughs harder, and snuggles better than anyone! He wants a lot of hugs!
Jack owns a company which makes t-shirts out of bamboo and organic cotton; mom owns her own consulting firm. We are both extremely active and athletic and none of us likes to stay at home for too long! We watch maybe one or two hours of TV per week, sometimes none at all, and the kids have never watched TV (this is our choice). We are very social and get together with friends as much as possible for meals, hiking or biking. We have both travelled around the world and enjoy meeting people from other cultures.
We like international cuisines the best (though we eat meat too), and I tend to make healthy meals using organic ingredients. I have quite a sweet tooth too so we usually have ice cream and cookies on hand :).
We enjoy a healthy lifestyle which means eating well, exercising, sleeping well (as much as the kids will let us), enjoying time outdoors and enjoying life in general. We always prefer to walk or bike rather than use the car, and we don't go to big chain restaurants or fast food places. We usually take the kids somewhere that they can run around rather than drag them around shopping.
We live in Boulder, Colorado, which is about thirty minutes away from Denver and is nestled up against the mountains. It is a beautiful small city of 100,000 people. Many tourists come here to stroll our pedestrian mall where there are no cars allowed and lots of cafes, bookstores, and fun places to shop and stroll. There is a University, and lots of restaurants, shops and cultural events. There are bike paths everywhere and many people travel that way. People in Boulder are very involved in sports and outdoor activities like skiing, biking, hiking and rock climbing. Boulder is a great town for young people.
Boulder averages 300 days of sunshine per year! Winters are mild and the air is quite dry. Summers can be very warm with very few clouds; the evenings are lovely and everyone dines outside at night.
You can walk or bike everywhere.. it's great! There are restaurants, bars, movie theaters, cafes, stores, hiking trails, pools... and since we have a university there are lots of international people and interesting clubs and groups to join. We would expect you to be with our boys or helping around the house approximately 45 hours each week. During their naps you'll be at home, and otherwise you will probably take them somewhere like a playground, a pool or some other activity. We look forward to hearing from you! |
