| My family is comprised of myself, my husband, and two boys aged 2 and 5. We are also expecting a baby this September. Our situation has changed recently so here is our update.
I will be home for 3-4 months after the baby is born to take care of the baby and to help you, our new au pair to adjust and get adopted into our family.
The 2 year old spends some times during the week with his grandparents in New York. He is potty trained and can feed himself without help.
The 5 year old will be in school during most of the day.
The two children understands Mandarin and English. If you speak to them in Mandarin they mostly will answer back in English. Generally I can say that our children are not shy and will adopt to you almost immediately if you are a friendly, smiling, and playful. They play well with each other but would prefer that our new au pair interact with them rather than just let them play by themselves.
Professionally, my husband and I have successful professional careers. I work in Human Resources and my husband works in Finance. My husband also enjoys being an entrepreneur and has been doing the import/export business from China to the US/Caribbean for a few years now.
Family activities include playing in the backyard, going to the park, zoo, museum, and mall. We enjoy playing, reading, doing barbecues, playing video games, watching TV, etc. The boys love all activities including swimming, basketball, soccer, karate, biking, running, and computer games.
Our home is a private house on a quiet street with lots of yard space for the children to play. You will have your own private room on the 2nd floor and bathroom shared with the kids. We sleep on the first floor and make use of the second bathroom. There is a playroom for the kids and an entertainment room in the basement. We are a happy clean informal family. We don't smoke. Drinking is done only on a social level. We understand and encourage differences and have open discussions frequently as a family.
Major shopping areas are in walking distance. Bus transportation is one block from our home, Metro North train is 5 minutes away. Colleges to attend are 10 minutes away. New York City (Manhattan) is only 45 minutes travelling distance but there are similarly exciting malls, parks, beaches, and other entertainment in walking distance. There is always an extra car for use.
Would love to hear from you.
