Au Pair/Nanny job description

Are you a LOVING, OUTGOING and ORGANIZED individual who is genuinely interested in spending time with 2 girls (7&9) and becoming part of our family? The girls are bright, funny, well behaved (most of the time!) and look forward to welcoming you. The girls' school is 13 km from home. Thus SOLID DRIVING SKILLS ARE A MUST! Housekeeping and laundry will be required and can be accomplished during the day. Cooking skills are a plus! Our minimum requirement is 20 hrs/week for live outs (ave=25) and 30 for live ins. Live-ins would work a split shift assisting with the morning routine. Actual hours per day will vary on the day and we will strive to to accomodate your preferences where possible. However it is essential I have someone who is on duty afternoons to provide after school care. Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

A little bit about us and where we live.... We live in Brampton, Ontario which is a city of 450,000 people. Two buses will get you into Toronto in about 1 hour. We have a bright, spacious, 3100 sq ft home with a trampoline in the backyard. Our street is quiet and backs onto a 30+ km trail. There are 3 parks within 5 minute walking distance which our girls love to play at. Within a 10 minute walk, you can get to a local community recreation center, swimming pool and library. We're a BUSY family with 2 working parents and a lot on the go! Dad works from home all the time but is rarely seen during the day. Mom has a flexible schedule usually working from home and often in the evenings after the children are in bed. We need an au pair who will be a great role model and instill good values in our children (ie, kindness, respect, responsibility, etc) The girls enjoy a variety of activities including going to the park, arts & crafts, playdates, cooking or baking, lots of exercise and even academic time. Our older daughter loves to dance and is often at the dance club. Our younger daughter rides horses and is an avid reader. She can invariably be found sidetracked by a book. So expect to be challenged in getting her onto other tasks! As a family we enjoy day trips in and around Ontario, community events, time at the park, skating, skiing, swimming, golf, etc, all of which you are welcome to join. At the same time we respect your need for privacy and time alone. As a live-in, your room will have a TV and computer with Internet access. Your room will be in the lower level of our home and quite private. You will share a bathroom with the girls upstairs. There's also a piano at your disposal should you be musically inclined. Our home is generally kept very clean and tidy. Thus we seek a like-minded aupair who will assist in maintaining this. Mom is also highly organized and works best with people who are high energy like herself. If you like to be busy and are good at taking initiative on your own around the house, this might be the place for you! We are supportive of your wishes to pursue personal interests outside of our home and will assist you in familiarizing yourself with the area. There is a community college nearby if you're interested in taking part-time courses. And your schedule can be made to accommodate. As a host family we will do everything possible to ensure your happiness. In return we expect you to be open and upfront with any issues that arise. We are very BIG on communication! We strive to create and maintain a positive atmosphere and are looking for an aupair who is consistent with (or can adapt to!) our style of parenting.
