Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear Family, I am Annica, an open minded and happy, fun-loving girl from Bavaria in Germany. I just finished school and am now looking for new experiences abroad. I love Sweden and i like to work with children, so i thought being an au pair is a great idea! right now, i am on an internship at a local radio and tv station and i enjoy it very much. after my stay as aupair, my plans are to study fashion journalism in munich. i love children and of course to take care of them. i have been babysitting my cousin´s two boys almost every week since they were born. i also did babysitting jobs for other families and spent an internship at the local kindergarden. additionally, i teach lessons to kids who do not well at school, so i am good at helping with homework. in 2005 i was the leader of the youth group in my village and organised and planned different activities. i am a person to rely on and i usually always keep a cool mind in difficult situations. i am innovative when it comes to entertain the kids and i think i could be a great friend for your children as well as a responsible and mature person that is always there for them and helps them out anytime they are in need. I come from a very loving family, in a pretty small bavarian village. growing up with 4 siblings, i soon learned how to cope with other people. that may be the reason why i enjoy working with humans so much. my father is a battery wholesaler and my mother is a housewife. they both raised me and my brothers and sisters very well and open-mindedly - letting us travel and discover the world to broaden our horizons. it is always a pleasure for me to return home after a long trip abroad. about myself, i am pretty mature (older than i look) and also patient with children. from experiences abroad (for instance student exchange to usa, workcamp in belarus) i have learned to be flexible and tolerant towards other cultures and opinions. i am also a nature-loving girl. i grew up in a house right next to a forest, so i like breathing and moving in fresh air. i like to go swimming, rollerskating and hiking during the summer and i love snowboarding and ice-skating in the winter. fortunately i can do my favourite hobby throughout the whole year: dancing. i do ballett and hip hop dance, and i would like to start modern/lyrical dance at some time in the future. if it is possible, i want to continue with my hobby at a swedish dance school during my stay with you. as you know that i am into fashion, it is not surprising that i also count sewing and photographing to my hobbies. but i just started with both, so i am still in the learning process. i speak english fluently since i spent a 3-month student exchange in the usa and also had good/very good grades in my english class at school. to be prepared for my time in Sweden, i am taking a swedish class, starting in october. i am excited to learn this new language that seems to be very familiar with english and even german. if you like my profile, i would be very happy to hear from you soon!
