Au Pair/Nanny job description

We are a young English family based in the south of England looking for a fun, reliable, outgoing au pair to help with our two great children and around the house (cooking & light housework). This will mainly focus on helping us with the children and will include helping getting the children ready for school, taking them to school and collecting them from school, taking them to activities (swimming, socialising), doing homework with them, playing with them in the house and garden, doing arts & crafts, swimming with them (we have our own swimming pool) etc. We are hoping to find an au pair who likes dogs as we have two very friendly dogs that just love going for walks in the woods near our house. We are looking for someone to start at the end of October or early November 2008 and to stay with us for at least 12 months. This is a full time live-in position. We need someone who can drive (a car will be provided) and our au pair must be a non-smoker.

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

Hi! We are a young, fun family of 4. We live in a nice house with a big garden on the edge of a fairly large town with lots of shops, gyms, etc. but in a nice quiet location surrounded by woodland. Our children are aged 6 and 8 and are really well behaved most of the time! We like them to have fun but also think it is important that they should be polite and well behaved. They love doing arts and crafts, music, playing outside with their toys and sporty things like swimming and skiing. Our family enjoys sports activities such as swimming, golf, squash, going for walks and going on an annual skiing holiday. We are also quite social people and often have friends and family over to our house. We love animals and have lots of wild animals (deer, birds, hedgehogs and more) that regularly come into our garden. We also have two big, friendly dogs that like to go for walks. We have had live-in au pairs before (British, Finnish, Slovak & Australian) so are used to someone living with us and can provide excellent references. All our previous au pairs have stayed with us for a long time, so hopefully that proves that we are a nice family to live with. We always try and make our au pairs feel really welcome, involving them in family activities but also being aware of the need for personal space and your own private time. We are looking for someone to start in November so that you can have a hand over from our current au pair who will show you everything that needs to be done, take you around the local area and who will introduce you to other local au pairs. We have a great au pair community in our area with au pairs from many different countries and I'm sure it won't take long to make lots of new friends. We need someone who can drive as you'll need to take the children to school but will provide a car for your use. We hope that you find our family of interest.
