| Dear host family!
My name is Marcela and I’m 21 years old. I was born in Campinas, São Paulo, where I live with my parents, Zelindo e Ivone, and my brother Wesley, who is 19.
My family is very nice an I’m very happy with them! They are affectionate and they always support me concerning all my decisions.
All my family is glad with my journey to the Unites States of American, although we are going to be distant for a year. But I’m sure the experience will worth it!
Our friend are also very happy with my decision to live abroad and I can count on them.
I study languages in college, Portuguese and Spanish. I love latin languages. I stopped my course this semester to prepare myself better to this trip. If I were in college, I wouldn’t have enough time to study English.
In Brazil, children get in touch with the English language very early, but I hadn’t studied it deeply, until I had the chance to enter an English course at the school where I work. Then, I had the opportunity to join this exchange program, as the school where I work is a Language School and we work with cultural Exchanges Programs. It interested me a lot!
I’ve always had contact with children. My mother has worked with children for many years and several times , I could help her.
She has also been a kids leader in our church and I usually worked with her and I do work nowadays, although my mother isn’t the leader anymore. I take care of the children and teach them the Bible. Besides this, I have many small cousins that are always at my house and I usually help taking care of them, feeding, bathing, etc.
I have studied music since I was eight, and I began teach too. I have worked for an ONG(non-governmental Organization), teaching music to poor children from a poor area in my city. I liked very much being with them, because I knew they needed love and attention and I could somehow help yhem. I have also worked in a Music School, teaching flute to kids. These kid’s reality was completely different, but I also liked the experience very much.
Nowadays, besides my work in church, I take care of two girls who live in my buiding: Sarah, eight, and Miriã, seven. I help them with their homework, I play with them and I go out with them when it’s possible.
It’s very pleasant to spend my time with them because I learn a lot with the children and besides this, they’re fun and sometimes I teach them Spanish.
I believe being an Au Pair in the USA will be a very enriching experience and will bring good things to me.
I am looking forward to being in the United States of America and I hope I’ll have a very good relationship with my host family, especially with the children! I hope we can meet soon.
Faithfully yours,
Marcela |
