| Greetings!
My name is Erin: I am a twenty-eight year old from Pacific Beach in San Diego, CA. I'm looking for live-out au pair/nanny agreements in San Diego from now until 2010. I am currently back in school getting a Masters of Nutrition and getting ready to attend a two-year nursing program in San Diego. I am a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), love animals (allergic to cats), and do not have a a car (at the moment). My salary is completely negotiable with number of children/hours per week in a live-out situation. I am not yet a member of GreatAuPair.
Previous Experience: Besides having a huge family that required years and years and YEARS of free babysitting experience... I worked 'on-call' with a popular agency in San Francisco's Bay Area, which made me have to adapt to many different environments and fresh situations on a regular basis. Since 1999, I worked as a personal attendant for two disabled students (one with Muscular Dystrophy and the other with Cerebral Palsy). I am very attentive and sensitive to children's needs- this work not only utilizes my gift for patience but also provides a very rewarding experience. Each summer, if work and location permit, I volunteer at a High School Cross Country Running Camp as a counselor and motivational speaker (continuing education, physical fitness, and nutrition).
More about me: I'm an active and rounded individual who loves traveling, the outdoors, and learning about other cultures. I connect deeply with young children and have many years of experience working with people of all ages and numerous physical disabilities in home, school, work, and traveling situations. I have a fun-loving and easygoing spirit, plus I hold a high amount of respect and discipline for education and family values.
In all, I’m the type of nanny that loves to play, organize arts and crafts activities, support athletic development, encourage educational games, and go on field trips. I can quickly adapt to busy households, as I came from a large and busy family myself, and I can work into many systems of home management. I believe I am an excellent candidate for families with active lifestyles and for those who encourage their children to explore and develop their natural talents.
My Personal History: Presently, I live in Southern California. I was raised in San Diego, CA as well as Albuquerque, New Mexico. Later, I attended a well known university in Berkeley, California (1998-2003) earning bachelor degrees in Art and History of Art. Subsequent to graduation, San Francisco became my home base to the following years of work and world travel. Also, I was a four year scholarship letterman in both Track & Field and Cross Country in college, which I feel is an important aspect of my character.
Basics: I am very comfortable around children of all ages- My certification with California’s First Aid and CPR standards has expired (8/08), but I am a certified EMT (trained to work on ambulances and in hospital settings). I am very allergic to cats, but love all other animals. I have a valid driver’s license in California, though I do not have a vehicle at the moment.
I appreciate your time and consideration~ Please feel welcome to view my photo album and in-depth interview (at least the start of it) on GreatAuPair's site.
Thanks and Warm Regards, Erin.
