Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear Host-family, I have recently moved to New York (Brooklyn) to start my second year as an au pair. While I had a WONDERFUL experience with my first family in California, this year has not been good so far. I am looking for a family in New York, I am available for an interview immediately. During my first year I cared for two fantastic kids now aged 5 & 7. I am still in touch with my former host family, and I will always remember them as dear friends. I am from Italy, but my mom is Polish, so I am fluent in this language too. I have studied English in London since the age of 15, and now I am in the USA to improve my language skills and have a new cultural experience. I love traveling, I have been to lots of places in Europe and now I am exploring the USA :)). About my education: I graduated from high school in July 2007 and I came to California as an Au Pair in October, so I took some ESL classes and English 1 b classes in a local junior college. When I am back home I will take up Russian and study Modern Languages at University. I am also studying French now, and I enjoy it a lot. Coming to my child care experience, I can say that I am used to caring for kids since their birth, since I have lots of little cousins and my family in Italy is very close-knit. I also worked as a baby sitter during my years in high school, and now I work as an Au Pair. I really love to engage and play with kids (my favourite age group are babies :)!!!)some of the activities I like best with kids are outdoors (going to pools, parks and museums) and reading (this is my favourite hobby, so I am always happy to show kids how fun it can be to read a story). I would not mind teaching kids some Italian too. I strongly believe that the primary duty of a caregiver is to teach children to do things in a loving way, because through independence they build self-esteem, and this helps them to succeed in life. I am a good driver, I hold both an Italian and a California Driver`s licence and I have a lot of experience since my present job requires much driving. My hobbies basically include reading, traveling and art. I really love to explore new countries and cultures, I am easygoing and open-minded, happy and energetic, reliable and committed. I would love to find a family that will treat me as a member, sharing their culture and lifestyle with me. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon!
