| I've just come from volunteering for 1 year in Calcutta India with Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity, so all my saving are used up and I would love to start working as soon as possible.
A bit about my family: I am the fourth child in a family with eight children. I have five brothers, and two sisters. Half my life I lived in a suburb of Chicago, until my parents decided we outgrew the city and moved us to the country. So, now my family owns a small organic farm where we milk little brown Jersey cows and chase chickens from the front yard. I love both life styles. The buzz of the city and the steady growth of the farm.
I have experience caring for newborn babies, 13 yr olds, and all ages inbetween! I have also been an au pair before. In 2005-2006 I spent 11 months with a family near Paris, with three children. A boy 12, and two girls 10, and 8 years old. Although I did enjoy France and the culture very much I can't say that I enjoyed the family very much. I did appreciate many things that they gave me, ie: a car to use and a very small room away from their home. However the facts remain that I rarely felt wanted or appreciated and that the parents and I never established a mutual trust, making the experiences I had with them less than enjoyable. I will always love the children, but will not be asking the parents for a reference. Should you like further proof of bad experiences with this family I can put you in contact with the au pair who took my place. She stayed a much shorter period of time.
As of my very current history: I have just spent the last year in Kolkata, India where I was volunteering with Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity in serving the poorest of the poor. I worked in a center called Prem Dan where I helped to care for women who had mental and physical disabilities, as well as in an orphanage called Shishu Bawan, where I helped to teach english to children age 4-9 years.
Some other things that you should know about me: I speak French fluently, and would be more than happy to assist children in learning this beautiful language. I am in the progress of learning Spanish as well, though I am not at the point yet where I could teach I could definitely assist and work alongside children who would like to learn this language. I am a music enthusiast. I studied vocal performance for 2 years in college as well as teaching performance. I can cook anything and love doing so, especially French and Indian dishes. I like to draw silly cartoon figures and have children color them in for me. I sew costumes for Halloween like a professional. I can swing dance and teach your kids to as well. I'm also a big fan of nature shows like National Geographic. I like elephants, cows, cats, dogs, birds, and gold fish a lot! I have been a licensed driver for 8yrs and have no problem driving a manual transmission. My name is Hebrew in origin, but my parents took it from the Bible.
In conclusion I would like for you to understand that I have spent, nearly, my entire life caring for others that were younger than myself or in need of my assistance and I honestly find nothing to be more rewarding than watching people grow and knowing that I have made an influence on their lives.
