Au Pair job description

We are a happy, fun loving British family, living in the French Alps. We have two beautiful children, a little boy Jacob who is 3 and a girl Emily who is 8. We spend a lot of time outdoors, skiing, walking, tobogganing, and snowshoeing in the winter and swimming, walking, cycling and water fun in the summer. We would love an au pair who wants to join us and become part of our family for a time and look after our children on a part time basis. Both parents spend a lot of time with the kids and so we need an extra pair of hands rather than a full time worker. We also spend time in the UK where we have a UK base. Would be great if you could speak French but not essential. The main thing is that you enjoy the outdoor life but particularly that you enjoy skiing or snowboarding as this is a great part of our lives, in the winter.

Family's Message to Au Pairs

Hiya We live in a mountain village in the French Alps and have 2 wonderful children, who love to laugh and play tricks on Mummy and Daddy. We are looking for an au pair who shares our relaxed happy outlook on life. You would be required to help with the children but as part of our family rather than as an employee. We have had 4 au pairs so far since Emily has been growing up so we know what it's like. You would have your own bedroom and an en suite bathroom, which is on another level of the chalet and entirely private. The views from your bedroom are awesome and like nothing you can imagine, with mountains and forests in your back yard. We spend much of our time outdoors both winter and summer, and you must like snow as we get lots of it. We spent today in the garden having a snowman building competition. Mum and Dad have a working knowledge of french but Emily is now bilingual, so if you spoke French that would be helpful. We are a very relaxed family and run a ski chalet in the winter and rest during the summer. We have other help to run the ski chalet and that would not be part of any requirements for an au pair. We are not looking for an employee but someone who wants to join us and become part of our family for a time and join in with our activities. We want someone who shares our informal outlook on life, as we truly believe that life is for enjoying. If you can ski you would have the pistes as your playground - we live 20 metres from the slopes. We have a strict set of values for our children and believe that they should be well mannered, polite and honest and are not spoilt so we want an au pair who will help us to bring them up to be relaxed, fun but also polite and well behaved children.
