| All my life I've been surrounded by children and helping people in some way and I'd like to keep giving what I can of myself for good cause. I'm a person who didn't grow up with privileges and I know what means to work.
Right now, I want to earn money, to travel, experience new cultures and to learn/improve my knowledge of foreign languages and maybe leave a positive trail and memory in someone's life. I love when I can learn something new and share my knowledge with someone, help them discover new things, as my curiosity is equal to one of a child. I hope it would be great experience for both of us to exchange life experience, and for me to help you with your child. Since young age I had to take responsibility for many things, spending lots of time on my own, which made me maybe too mature for my age, but this is opportunity to combine my maturity with my playful nature, so this way I'll have my second childhood. :)
I love open-minded families, not military strict, but authoritative, where self-expression and new things, arts and culture are encouraged. My opinion is, that, despite nannies and au pairs, parents are irreplaceable, and they are those who must upbring their children, not TV, mass media and seasonal nannies/au pairs.
To me it doesn't matter what religion, nationality, ual orientation or skin color you are.
I don't have good cooking skills, I am planning to learn some this summer/fall (also I'm vegetarian).
I'd love to be in a bigger city to have some cultural and educational center at hand and available. I'd be interested in taking courses in design, something crafty and creative. Even get some degree if it's affordable since I'm not really happy with offer in my own town.
ABOUT ME
Hello! :)
I'm a young student of Sociology, soon to be 22 years old from Croatia.
I'm open-minded, independent, energetic, sympathetic, optimistic, animal and nature loving, vegetarian and almost always smiling person who wants to experience her life to the full.
I grew up in modest conditions with single mother who taught me how to take care of myself and fight for my rights.
I'm personally Agnostic, and I'm not forcing my personal stands on anyone so Id ask you kindly that you do the same. I have respect towards people's religion and tradition, and even if I disagree with some traditions in world, if I accepted to be with you, I will respect it. That's why I'd ask you to give me more information on that matter so I know from the start.
I'm not sure I could live with family where I will be preached about God all day and who will be telling me that I MUST believe in him or I'll go to hell; where women are (mis)treated as un-equal or 'lower' than men; where family is racistic and chauvinistic.
I love my country and my culture but world is too big and life too short to spend it in one place. So many things to see, do and feel...
I'm a proud person who thinks work is admirable thing which should be respected, and none of it should be looked upon from the top. I'm saying this because I heard some au pairs having been treated as servants and slaves, disrespected and not paid. I expect to be treated as equal and respected as I came to do my job I will be paid for and enjoy that time with you. I see it as mutual exchange.
I started working as soon as it was possible in my country, when I was 16. I worked whatever I could get but as I get older and my needs are growing bigger (university, traveling, taking care of myself and for my free time) I simply can't do jobs that are for teenager's pocket money.
Also, I want to take gap year(s) in my education, so I can experience something new, and earn money for possible continuation of education, as scholarships got higher and my mother simply can't provide all that money.
My interests are: music, film, design, web design, photography, art, new cultures, exploring and learning new things, meeting new people, animals, human rights, spreading open-mindness and awareness. I quickly adapt to new situations, and gladly learn new things.
Most of my English is self-taught from movies and books. Also, if possible I'd like to improve it and maybe even learn some other languages. I have intermediate knowledge in computer using and other technology.
I have great respect and patience towards older people.
My mother encouraged cultural education in me: movies, creativity, books, music, traveling, museums..d I'd love to spread it around.
I enjoy watching documentary movies, reading geographic and science magazines (such as GEO, National Geographic, Reader's Digest), photography magazines, reading books on sociology, psychology, traveling, design and art history.
I was always in for exploring the world and meeting new cultures which of course takes money, but this would be one of the ways.
