Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear future family, My name is Laura and I’m 25yo Italian girl. I read about au pair job and I decided immediately to participate, because I think it could be a very interesting experience for my life, to grow up, to know a new culture and people, to help someone and of course to improve my English!! In this period of my life I feel I need to change something, I need to find myself, so I thought it could be good if I can do something new, different from my usual life in Italy ... For this reason I was in Latvia for 10 months, working as a volunteer in a Waldorf kindergarten through EVS project. It was a very beautiful work there in this new country, and to meet new persons with a different culture and customs. I like to learn something new every day and to share ideas with people from new countries. I worked with children from 2yo to 7yo’s very nice work with them. I know, I must admit sometimes it is no so simple stay with children, but every day I tried to go to work with a big smile for every child! I think this is important, because if you are ok and smiling also the child is good! I think I am patience and I am sensitive to the needs and concerns of the young people and children even because I can manage thanks to a 4 year-aged little sister. Working in Waldorf kindergarten I learnt more about men’s development, and what is very necessary to children in the first 7th years: safety, love and keep interest to everybody. I try to understand the nature of every child, because I understand every child needs different treatment. Talking about me, I’m hard-worker, open-minded, kind, polite, reliable, communicative, friendly, enthusiastic and diligent. I present good manners. I don’t like injustice. I try not to be afraid from every challenge which my life gives me and exceed them with courage and determination. In Latvia I learnt that ja tu gribi, tu vari! that is if you want, you can! Unfortunately, I’m also average person, who has ups and downs, but I like to confront my life in the best possible way! I love sports in general, but I prefer the team sports like volleyball, football, basketball, but I like also tennis and kick boxing (I am not a violent person, not at all!). I like walking (if it is in the nature is better!). I love animals, especially dogs and horses! In my country I did dog-sitting for a short time! I did also occasionally babysitting and I gave young people private lessons in Mathematics and I assisted them in doing their homework. I like cooking very much ( in Latvia sometimes I’m amused to cook for friends and for the family where I live); I know only Italian kitchen, but I would like to learn also other kitchens, I like trying to cook a new foods.
