Au Pair/Nanny job description

We are an American family with 2 girls ages 5 and 7, and a baby boy who is 2 years old. We also have a beloved dog named Betsy. We are looking for someone who speaks fluent English and Italian. If you do not speak both English and Italian then this job most likely is not for you. We will however, consider all applicants. The ideal person will be very independent, patient, creative, reliable and great with children. Strong organizational skills are also a must. Our girls enjoy making crafts, painting, playing and using their imagination. We would like for someone who gets the girls to pick up after themselves, make their beds etc. (instead of doing it for them), encourage hand washing and tooth brushing, as well as helping to keep a regular schedule. We like our children to be independent, responsible, polite and courteous and need someone who will help us instill those values in them. HOURS ARE (school days) 7:00-10:30am in the morning and 4:00pm to 8:30pm in the afternoon.

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

Dear Au Pair, We think you will find our children fun and energetic. We are an easy going family but like rules and structure. What I need most is someone who can do a little bit of everything (I need a second me). Most of all however, I need someone who genuinely enjoys playing with kids. The girls enjoy all sorts of creative activities and games as they are quite artistic. They also enjoy going to the beach, the park, rollerblading and riding their bikes. In the past they have been enrolled in swimming lessons, dance and horse back riding. For most of these activities I will take them, as they like to "show-off" their talents for me. While the girls are involved in activities I most likely will need you to help with the baby. The activites they do vary during the year. We would like for someone who gets the girls to pick up after themselves, make their beds etc. (instead of doing it for them), encourage hand washing and tooth brushing, as well as helping to keep a regular schedule. When tidying up the childrens belongings I would like for you to do it WITH them as an activity rather than stand over their heads. This way they are still responsible for their things and won't feel that cleaning is a punishment but a duty. I like their things to be kept organized. I will need some help around the house. This should include preparing meals for the children, helping to keep the children's toys and clothes tidy, laundry, trash, keeping the kitchen area clean and to pitch in where needed. For the laundry I mainly need you to help me keep on top of it. This should include helping to hang to dry and folding. I will put in in the machine and put it away (as well as help with hanging and folding). I would like for you to leave the house in as good as condition if not better than it was left on a daily basis. You will be responsible for keeping your bedroom and bathroom clean. You are NOT expected to scrub the floors or clean toilets in the rest of the house. For this type of cleaning we have someone who comes in a few times per week. For you there are many things to do in the area within easy walking distance such as: the beach, grocery, the park, a university, a theatre, soccer stadium and tennis club. We live on the bus line, and the center of town and the train station is about a 20 minute walk. We live in a large house where you can expect to have your own bedroom and bathroom. We also have WI-FI internet access at the house for you to keep in touch with friends and family. As a family we like to discover local sights in the Abruzzo region. We hope to venture a little further away from home, but with 3 children we must always take it one day at a time. We also enjoy snow skiing, ice skating and other activities.
