| About my experience with kids: First off, I love kids and have extensive experience caring for them. I have been babysitting for about 10 years for several different families. I still go to play with the kids when I'm home for a visit. I was a part-time nanny for an academic year for two girls that I had babysat since they were born. I picked up the 4 yr old from day care as well as the 5 yr old from the school bus stop after school. The 5 yr old was learning to read and I worked on that with her (as well as the 7 year old in Walnut Creek). The 4 yr old had a phase of crying tantrums and I learned a lot of patience during this time. I was in the Hamptons in New York for 2 months with 2 girls (ages 2 and 4.5) with another Au Pair until I started massage school in the San Francisco Bay Area in Emeryville,CA. We cooked for the girls in NY, shopped for weekly groceries, did their laundry and put it away, bathed them and put them to bed, cleaned their rooms and made their beds as well as played with them in the pool, at the beach, and games at home. I even planned out a short, fun yoga series for them to do. While in Walnut Creek, working with a mom with 4 girls, I learned to juggle the schedules of 4 VERY busy girls and their mother's as well. Each girl played at least 2 sports, sometimes 3 sports with seasons overlapping. I got the girls organized for the day, made their lunches, took them to school and then sped off to my own classes. After coming home I picked the girls up, fed them a snack, then they dressed for whatever sports was that day and I would take all of them to whatever was scheduled for that day. After their practices they would do some homework and have dinner.
Location: For the current plan, I am looking for something in Washington DC, since I will be relocating there with my boyfriend soon. I could live in for the beginning and the once my boyfriend relocates, if it works well with the family, I would consider moving back with him. Internationally, I would like to start in January 2009 or later and I will consider families that need a short term au pair as well. I plan to take language classes wherever I go.
Education/location/future: I have a diploma in massage therapy and health education from National Holistic Institute and completed my education there in Summer 2006. I am also a level 2 Reiki practitioner. I want to continue my schooling and get a degree in English and be certified to teach.
I do have a small toy poodle (named Geronimo, or G-star for short) that I would like to bring with me. He is VERY old at 15 years of age, and he sleeps all day, I take him out 3 times a day, and he sleeps all night. He would stay in my room and would not require to be in any of the other parts of the house. Poodles do not shed fur, and are close to hypoallergenic. Having sensitive animal allergies myself (mostly cats and horses if I'm around them too long), I have never had a problem with allergies with him. He requires little maintenance, 100% of which I would provide for him and never ask anything of the family. He can't see very well or hear very well (whistling and clapping are heard though). I always love it when he barks because it happens so rarely! We have literally grown up together over these past 15 years. I left him with my parents for a year while I was away at school and when I came back I knew that if I had been any later, it would have been too late. I can't bear to leave him again.
My Ultimate Goals: I'd like to finish school and become a teacher. I'd also like to go to yoga teacher training and be able to travel the world, teach yoga, do massage on the side.... and of course promote world peace, cure cancer, and find a sustainable source of carbon-free fuel for the world. Thanks for your consideration and feel free to contact my primary number or email at any time with any question. Have a great day! :)
Hmmm...what else? I have a driver's license and can drive a standard shift vehicle (in the San Francisco hills!). I have a clean driving record with only one accident back when I was in high school on the day that had the most car accidents in the year in my city due to extreme, abnormal conditions. I'm a very safe driver.
P.S.- The salary, currency, hours/week, and length of stay are all negotiable. Just ask! :) |
