Nanny's Message to Families

Dear Prospective Family, I am originally from Germany. I spent two years as a live-in Au Pair in CT. I enjoyed my time with my host family. I like being part of the development process of a child and find it to be very rewarding. I have been trained in child daycare, hotel management, French, etc. I began studying English in fifth grade. Some of my hobbies include swimming, horseback riding, listening to music, bike riding, and traveling. The activities I would introduce to the childern vary with age. With a toddler or a young child I would like to help them learn and explore the world. I feel it is important for them to learn in a playful way. With older children I feel it is important to help them with their studies as well as create a fun and caring environment for them. Other activities or tasks I would enjoy doing with your children would include: getting the children ready for school, picking the children up from school, preparing breakfast/lunch/dinner, supervising playdates, taking the children to extracurricular activities, going to the park, going to museums, attending events, etc. I feel that Positive Erziehung Style is an effective type of child care. The child is rewarded or congratulated for their achievements. I feel this positive reinforcement makes the child happy when they successfully complete a task.
