| Hello and thank you for your interest.
We are looking for someone who genuinely loves children and will be a part of our family. We hope you will have motivation and initiative and will enjoy playing with our children and exploring the world (nature, animals, art, libraries etc.)
It is important that you are thoughtful, considerate and responsible. Trusting you with our children’s safety is the most one could ever ask of us and therefore we expect you to take this commitment very seriously.
In addition, you will run errands, including shopping, and help around the house as needed. Malou and Lucas will be going to school 5 days a week. Isaac will be at home and will have an additional care giver who lives outside the house. We work from our home next door) as this allows us to be more engaged with our kids. Primary cleaning will be done by someone else.
As our aupair we will provide you with a cell phone, unlimited internet access, TV as well as the more standard benefits (insurance, a course, be it English, horseback riding or otherwise). Note, if you watch a lot of TV, we are probably not the right family. We are looking for someone who lives life. You must fill out the detailed interview to be considered.
We are in the process of moving from the Netherlands to Freeland,WA, to be closer to family. Freeland is located on beautiful Whidbey Island, some 35 miles from Seattle. This is approximately 60-90 minutes due to the ferry ride. We have just purchased a cool, old farm house in a beautiful setting, close to the beach and town. This is a great area if you are into outdoor sports such as skiing/boarding, biking, camping, hiking, horse back riding, etc. Seattle provides "top 10" city entertainment and shopping on the weekends if you want it.
For the athletic types, we live near the water and have sea-kayaks for your use. A bike and a car will also be provided.
Check out the wikipedia for more info on the area, then look up whidbey island or seattle.
Mom and Dad are left leaning yuppies, into the New York Times and sustainable development among other things. We love cooking and eating, especially outdoors and put a fair amount of energy into it. Limited meat eating happens in our house, although we are not extremists by any definition.
Concerning our process, we will be screening applicants and reading detailed interview questions through April, then moving into interviews in May, looking to make a decision and offer by May 15 for a summer start date... ideally such that you have some overlap with our current aupair.
In sum, we have a preference for motivated, active personalities who genuinely love children and take initiative and learn in all they do. We look forward to hearing from you! |
