Nanny's Message to Families

Hi!!My name is Patricia, and i speak portuguese , spanish and english. I’m really excited with this opportunity to be part this experience in the United States. I`m Living in NY NOW! I’ve chosen it because I believe it’s a necessity to learn English and also because I want to know the American culture in real life with a family there. I do love children. When I come back to Brazil, I intend to be able to speak English fluently and I hope it will help me find better opportunities in the work market. I lived with my mother, who is a doctor, in a town called Campina Verde, MG, which is in the southeast of Brazil. My only sister lives 200 km far from here. She is at College studying Medicine and she comes visit us when she has free time. If it’s not possible for her, Mom and I drive there to spend a weekend or a holiday with her. We three are really close and friends. Love and caress are the best features for our family. My father, who is also a doctor, lives in Rio de Janeiro. I am a person very happy, responsible, lovely patient and careful. I normally think enough before acting in a difficult situation and I always keep my stuff well organized. I’ve graduated in Arts and also in Marketing in a city called Londrina that is in the South of Brazil. I finished both of them in 2006. I’ve decided to take these graduations because I like to use my creativity and also because I just love theater, movies and ads. I like to listen to music and I am a “book lover”. Chico Buarque de Holanda is my favorite Brazilian singer and song writer. I appreciate other bands and singers like Coldplay, U2, Dave Matthews Band, Elvis Costello, Jack Johnson and Norah Jones. I enjoy myself finding out different songs. I always read a lot. I also enjoy traveling and meeting new people. Most of my vacations I visit a new place in my country. Since my childhood, my mother cheered me up to take part in physical activities and I still do it. I’ve played volleyball for eight years, taken swimming lessons for four years and even ballet and jazz classes for three years. Nowadays, I workout, take yoga classes, ride my bicycle, go hiking with my friends and swim at the club every weekend. I believe it’s important to take care of my body to keep a healthy mind as well. I don’t smoke and drink any soda either. I care of my food, eating a lot of fruit and vegetables and avoiding red meat as much as possible. I can cook a little. I know how to make simple things like pasta, stroganoff, cakes and sandwiches. In 2006, I tutored children in a Spanish Course. I was also in charge of the computer lab and the library. I always helped children with their homework. It was when I noticed I could work with children because I did know how to deal with them and they liked me. I pay attention at them and try to understand what they need. This year, I worked as a volunteer at an Elementary school, with children from 6 to 13. I also took care of a sweet girl whose name is Ana Luísa, as a baby-sitter. I like to play with them, help with their homework, take them to the club, watch movies, sing songs and so on.I have a lot of friends and we enjoy together. I consider them like my second family. In our relationship respect, sincerity and honesty are things that we appreciate. I’m looking forward to meeting your family and knowing what you are expecting from me, as an Au Pair or nanny.
