Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear Host Family, my name is Katharina and I am 23 years old. Since my birth I´ve been living in Obernkirchen, a small town near Hannover. I live together wiht my parents in a semidetached-house with a garden.I have one animal a dog, its a terrier, her name is Jeany. She is so cute and very devoted. I have no brothers or sisters so my dog is like a family member to me. I finished my training as a paralegal in June 2007. In my free time I read a lot, listen to music, go to the cinema, go out with friends or meet them, cook from time to time. If I cook, I take care that it is a healthy meal. I take care for my health and so I don't smoke. Besides I love to travel. I have visited many countries for example I was on mallorca, on the canary islands and in tunesia, turkey, denmark. I also enjoy spending a lot of time with children. I did an internship in 2007 in a nursery-school for two weeks. I really enjoy working with chlidren. We sang a lot of songs with the children and we colored easter eggs because eastern was just around the corner. The children were between 1 and 3 years old. It was also my job to change diapears, that's no problem for me. I had a lot of fun in the kindergarten, it was great to see that the children having fun. So I gained experiences. In March 2005 I began to care for the children of my aunt and oncle. The kid's names are Janina 5 and Laura 12 years old. We played with the ball, play tag, hide-and-seek and many board games. My little cousin Janina loves to do jigsaw puzzles and to play memory. She has many dolls which those we play together. In April 06 I did a babysitter-course. In this course I learned a lot about child development, important developmental milestones, healthy, nutritious and balanced diet for infants and children, personal hygiene for children. I take care of two other children, too. I began babysitting in may. The children called Eny-Leann 3 and Bennett-Christopher 8 years old. I took care of them in the evening, because their parents liked to go out. I made a light evening meal and we eat together. After the meal we play together and then I made them ready for bed that meant brush their teeth and put their pajamas on... When they ready for bed I read a story for them. I already was an Au Pair in 2007/2008. I had a great hostfamily in Suffolk, VA. I took care of one sweet little girl, she was three years old when I arrived. I took care of her from the morning until the early evening. We played a lot of games, she loved to play with her barbiedolls and in the summertime she had swimming lessons. She also loved ballet, riding her bike, making arts and crafts. I would like to be an Au Pair again in Norfolk, or around the area, because I had a great year and I like it there the most. Currently I'm working in Hanover as a paralegal, but I'm looking forward to be an Au Pair again. I hope for a nice family who welcomes me in their home so I can become a family member of your family and a good friend for your children. I'm not with an agency yet, but I chose Cultural Care last year as my agency and I can highly recommend them.
