Au Pair's Message to Families

Hello Host Family! How are you? I hope everything is fine! Well, first of all, let me present you someone who is willing to be part of your family: ME! So let’s begin: My name is Ximena, I’m 23 years old. I was born in São Paulo, the biggest city of South America but I live in Curitiba since my childhood. Curitiba is a main city and has a good structure for the habitants with universities, parks, excellent public transportation and much more. I live with my parents and my brother. In our home also live with us two cats and two dogs – I really love pets! My mom is a cooker and my father is a bank employer. My parents are the most reliable person I’ve already known. My brother is studying Information Technology and is working in this area too. He is a great friend for me. In general, we have an excellent relationship! As my brother, I’m studying Information Technology. This is my second graduation, since I recently graduated in Communication. Now I´m providing my driver license. I’m always interested in learning new things. I work since my 16 and my life is always busy, around work and study. Anyway, I enjoy my life style. I have some hobbies just like any other girl, like meeting friends and traveling. I enjoy spending time outdoors too. In my city we have some nice parks where people go to rest, meet friends and practice exercises! About my interests I specially love literature, theater and cinema. I used to have theater’s classes and I acted a few times. I know I’m a good writer and because of this talent I’ve already won some prizes. One of the most recent and significant was a scolarship to do the au pair program by AuPairCare. Now, let’s talk about the most important: my experience with children! I have taken care of children ranging from the age of 5 months to 9 years. Last year I spent almost the whole year with a girl named Glenda who is a smart kid. I used to help her with her homework and do company to her until the hour she had to go to the school, occupying this time with activities, like plays, read books and what she most like to do: paint and draw. I’ve also worked as a volunteer in a day care this current year. My intention was learning everything about caring kids, especially the little ones. In this place I took care of children of various ages, since 5 months until 5 years, but most of time I was with the kids aged until 2 years. While taking care of the kids I have engaged in the following activities: changing diapers, prepare baby meals, eventually helping with schoolwork of the great ones, supervising children as well playing with them. This experience was great because I could learn and develop my skills taking care of the kids and I enjoy the energy of these kids: it seems to be infinite! Before these experiences, I’ve already been engaged with volunteer job giving Informatic classes when I was sixteen for children and adults. I believe I’m a good teacher and teaching is one of the things I most adore to do in my life. In this same institution I was also involved with children with mental and physical disabilities. My mother worked there for a long time, and I was always visiting the children and helping to feed them or playing with them. We used to bring a child to our home to spent holydays with us, as Christmas. In fact I choose to be an au pair because I love children and as I always had the will to live an experience of cultural interchange I believe this program fits with my skills and expectations. According with my experience and my open minded and respectful way I am sure we can have an excellent relationship. I'm willing to take care of your children with responsibility and of course, with love and affection!
