| Hi, My name is Desmond and I am looking for a great family to have wonderful adventures with!
I'm originally from a small town outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota called Burnsville. I'm twenty-five years old and I have been working with kids since I was about fifteen in a multitude of different settings. I have valid MD driver's license and an impeccably clean driving record. I am certified by the American Heart Association as a Basic Life Support (BSL) Health Care Provider. This includes infant, child, and adult CPR/First-Aid certifications. I have worked with older kids (17-11), younger kids (11-4), toddlers(4-2), and with kids who have special needs. I am able to engage kids in many different types of activities such as playing creative games, organizing and supervising play-dates, dog walking (if you have any pets), doing art projects, reading and doing creative story-telling, help with home-work, being their big brother, yet protective adult when needed, and always teaching them good manners and how to be polite. I make an effort to try to expand their vocabulary and challenge them cognitively as well as always giving priority to walks in the park and spending time outside, rather than just sitting and watching cartoons or playing video games all day. I am also great with light house cleaning and cooking. I have worked at camps and with families. My last family was in New York City and I had a really great time working for them because they were really great people and made me feel so comfortable and included; like I was a part of the family, which was great because I come from a very close family.
I graduated from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drama this past June and I would love to experience life from another perspective. I have never been out of the country so I think that an opportunity like this will not only help to enlighten me to the many different ways of life, which is something that is very important to me, but also allow me to grow and discover parts of myself that will aid me in achieving all of my goals and aspirations down the road.
I am seeking employment with a progressive and stable family that will utilize my skills in a challenging manner and offer me opportunities to advance, yet at the same time teach me new skills that I will be able to add to my background and abilities. I am available to start as soon as possible and am interested in working as a 'live-in' Au pair with a host family that is looking for someone for at least 6 months and, if everything works out well, possibly a year or more. I'm asking for between $350-$400/wk, but that is definitely negotiable. Also, my resume and references can be provided upon request. Again, Thank you so much and can't wait to meet you! |
