| Au Pair's Message to Families |
| Currently, I teach at one of our universities, so love to teach and interact with young people. I've been working with young people for many years, teaching at all levels - and teaching all subjects. I also lived with a chinese family tutoring their 3 children and some of their friends' children (they were careful where I worked). I had my own children in my early 20's and have helped care for many nieces, nephews and the children of friends. I've also worked with the elderly as a private care-giver. I was offered a doctoral scholarship in New Zealand. I did not accept the scholarship due to my father's illness and so, if I am hired for a position through this site, would like the opportunity to study if time and circumstances permit... although it is not necessary. I do like walking the dogs in the woods and being on the water. I believe in prevention and feeding the body, mind and soul... eat well, connect to nature, be outside when possible, read often, study, play, be with friends and be prepared when opportunities come. I think there is no excuse for not knowing about the world around you and your place in it. Other than teaching sociology, I've been teaching fine arts for many years. My other interests are horses and dogs, being in/on the water, and writing. I think that we learn from each other - I learn from my students, my son and daughter and everyone I meet... while I hope they can learn from me. |
