| Au Pair's Message to Families |
| Dear Family. My name is Emma and I am brought up on the countryside outside a small, friendly town in the middle of Sweden, called Saffle. I’m twenty-two years old and was born on the 25th October, 1987. I come from a family with two parents and two siblings, one older brother and one older sister. My family is very important to me and we all have a close relationship with each other. And at the moment I’m living close to each one of them. I graduated from high school three years ago and I have been enjoying life since then. I took a flight, right after my graduation, down to New Zealand and stayed there for about a year. I was there with my sister and we had the best time. Enjoying beautiful scenery but also learned a lot about their fascinating culture and I improved my English big time, I came home talking and understanding it so much better. I also learned taking care of myself and though I experienced some though times, I only walked stronger from them. And I should add; that if you want me to drive, I can do that with a pleasure. Because I had a car in New Zealand so I’m used on driving on the “wrong side” :)and I’ve been having my driver license for three years now. When I came home from the trip I was really poor and so I decided to go over to our neighbor country Norway to earn some money. And I worked in a hotel at a ski area there for a few months. Later, last year, I applied for a music course at a folk music school, and I got accepted. So I went there for one year and learned a lot about both life and music. Music has always been a big interest of mine, so studying it was like a dream coming true. I graduated from it this year and I have been studying social psychology, a course, since then and I really enjoy that too although it’s very different from music. My future plan is becoming a welfare- the opportunity to help people that are having a hard time in life. If I was going to describe myself with five words it would be; Positive, funny, outgoing, calm and down-to-earth. I like both the quiet and the busy life. I was brought up close to nature outside a small town and I loved it. But nowadays I like cities as well, where the range of things to do is a lot bigger. I’m a down-to-earth person and calm, trying to enjoy each minute of life. I have to say that my biggest interest is music. I play guitar and have been doing that for a few years now, and I love it. I played violin and keyboard before, but that was a long time ago so I can hardly remember anything. And I’ve been singing since I was a young girl. I write my own songs, in English actually. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, drinking coffee and talking for hours about life. Another big interest is travelling. I've been thinking of becoming an au pair for a long time now, I think ever since I started high school. I took care of my cousin child back then, helping him, playing with him, and I really enjoyed every minute of it. He is a lot bigger now so there is no babysitting anymore, unfortunately. I took care of him when he was between 4- 6 years old. I also had a few days practice at a day nursery, where my mum works as a child- minder. The children were in a group of ten and in the age from four to six. The practice included everything from playing with the children to helping them go to sleep at “nap-time”. My sister has also been au pair in London and that has been a big inspiration for me. She had a lovely time with a wonderful family. And although London is huge; it’s very beautiful. The reason why I chose England and Scotland is because they both seem like two fascinating countries. I’ve only been to England once, when I visited my sister when she was an au pair in London. But I would love to explore what’s left of it and its culture. I have met a lot of people on my trips that were from England and Scotland and I have only good things to say about all of them. They are all so friendly and outgoing, really lovely people Simply; I really love taking care of children and would love to become an au pair. To learn a whole new culture and experience it’s everyday life, finding some new friends and have the best time of my life.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Yours sincerely
Emma |
