| Nanny's Message to Families |
| Dear Wonderful Family, Hello! My name is Livia and I am a 23 year-old pediatric nurse from Brazil. To learn English, I have been an au pair for the past year with an amazing family in Dunwoody. I have loved the past year with my family and my English is at an intermediate level, but I am becoming a student nanny to accelerate my English mastery. ABOUT ME: I love children with all of my heart. It's about developing the mind, body, and soul in a nurturing environment. I am very experienced and I love my job. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a happy child smile! As for me, I am studious, talkative, and friendly. I'm proud of the history of my country and love the US. As for my personality, I am a polite person, mature, organized, responsible, reliable, determined, easy going, good humored, adaptable, very funny, very happy, amused, extroverted, and believe in God. Around the house, I am tidy, honest, sincere, and respectful. I do not smoke cigarettes and only like to drink occasionally in moderation since responsibility is important to me. I like to travel and to explore new places. My hobbies are photography, swimming, surfing the Internet, listening to music, and spending time with my friends. I took over 2000 pictures of my wonderful family's baby this year on my iand camera. CHILDCARE QUALIFICATIONS: Trained as pediatric nurse in Brazil via four year program with two year pediatric hospital internship. In 2009, certified in US via five-day $1000 training as Infant Specialized Au Pair. Certified by the American Heart Association in infant CPR and first aid. Infant Massage trained by the Liddle Kidz™ Foundation. Infant Sign language trained by Baby Fingers, a leading Infant Sign Language learning organization. Infant specialized training also included soothing techniques, parental communication, and household hygiene certification. At my family's request this past year, I used the Diaper Free Baby technique featured in the New York Times. We toilet trained their daughter at only a few months old. We used diapers as a safety, but it made her and the parents very happy. I have a total of 8107 hours of documented childcare of which 3340 hours of care were for children between the ages of 0 and 2. FROM AU PAIR TO NANNY: I'm on a valid J1 au pair visa and DS-2019 from the US Department of State. In 2010, I will be on an F1 student visa and matching with a new family. I have an outstanding reference from my current host family and I am committed to them through early January to fulfill my au pair commitment. I have a US Social Security card and Georgia Driver's license with four years of driving experience. I will only stay in the US legally as I have a great respect for the law. I would be a part of your family like an au pair where you provide room / board, provide a weekly stipend, and cover educational expenses -- all at a cost very comparable to an au pair without as many restrictions (able to work more than 10 hours per day / 45 hours per week when needed) at an "all in cost" of $9.77 per hour. All US visa paperwork and health insurance will be conducted from my school and automatically renewed. LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: I have a letters of recommendation from my current host family, all au pair records, and tons of great experience. MY AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: With English as a second language, I would tell you that my written and English are weaker than in person. I'm very expressive. They say that 60% of what you communicate is by body language, 30% by tone, and 10% is what you say. I really want to have a host family that will be actively engaged with me so that I can learn more quickly. My host family this past year was phenomenal at this type of engagement and I want to continue. Much love, Livia |
