| Dear Au Pair,
We are a young Canadian family expatriated for a business project in the beautiful Reunion Island, a French overseas department located in the Indian Ocean.
We are a very respectful family with two wonderful children, Arthur who is 5 years old and Laurie-Ann who's 7 (our third child is Zara, a superb brown Labrador of 2 years old).
We are having live-in au pairs since Arthur is one year old... so we have quite a lot of experience... some very good, some not so good. We think that everything is based on expectations and respect, so this is why we are giving a very honest and objective vision of living with us. If you can't fullfil our criterias, you won't be happy, and neither do we.
Here is the "normal weekly schedule":
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are mostly the same.
-Breakfast around 7h30 -Make sure kids are ready for school at 8h15 (dressed up, brushed their teeth,...) -Bring them to school for 8h30 (5 min. walk) -Pick the kids at school at 12h00 -Cook lunch for them -Bring them back to school by 13h30 -Pick them up again at 16h00 -Bring them to their after school activities (piano, fencing, swimming,...) -Prepare kids meal for dinner (when we don't eat together)
During the week, you will have to do the grocery, laundry and ironing, otherwise, you are absolutely free to enjoy the pool or the surroundings. We have a cleaning lady who comes twice a week. We just ask you, as any member of the family, to keep your room, bathroom and the house tidied up.
Wednesday is different, as the kids don't go to school. It's the golf day! Breakfast time is at 8h00. You will go to the golf club with the kids and mummy. While they have their golf lessons (around 9h30 to 11h00), you can enjoy the clubhouse pool or terrace, then take care of the kids and have meal until Jennifer finishes her round of golf around 14h00.
The weekends are completely free, except if we have a special activity, but we will plan it with you well in advance. You are free to go on your own and visit our beautiful island or share our activities with the kids if you want.
We usually try to go out one evening per week, but most of the time we take care of dinner and be sure we leave you the kids ready to go to bed. They are use to that and usually very happy to see us leave and having a special bond with their "big sister".
According to all of our previous au pairs, our kids are very easy going, polite and well educated. They play very well together and share most of their activities. They both speak French, but Laurie-Ann is nearly bilingual and Arthur is improving a lot in English. This is why we want to speak English at home most of the time.
Here, you will have your own room with TV/DVD and bathroom. You will be able to use a car during weekends except for rare occasions. During the week, you will a car to do the grocery and bring the kids to their activities and have a cell in case of emergency.
We are offering a salary of 120 euros per week and we pay for all expenses incurred during family activities. We are open to share a part or all the cost of your airfare ticket if you accept a smaller salary. We are looking to have someone who will come from February 2010 until July 2010.
We are looking forward to hear from you and will be delighted to put you in contact with our current and previous au pairs.
Best regards,
Pascal, Jennifer, Laurie-Ann and Arthur |
