Le Mont-sur-Lausanne, Vaud - Host Family at a Glance
40-something family, primarily Swedish, living in Switzerland. Family speaks English, French, German, and Swedish. Looking for a female Au Pair. Our aupair will need to have a driver's license. Light housekeeping is required, and we will not accept an aupair that smokes.
You will need to get Maya ready for school in the morning, sometimes drive her to school if I can't. Then she needs to be picked up at 15.30 or 16.30 depending on the day and you manage her after school until it is bedtime - snack, homework, after school activities, dinner etc. We eat pretty healthy food so no fast food. During the day there is the tidy up of the house,do the laundry etc. That you manage as you want as long as it is done.
You have a separate entrance, shower and kitchenette, so you are quite independant to live your life when you are "off". There is a car to use as well. On weekends you are mostly free as I am with Maya, and you can live your life with your friends if you want to, or hang out with us, whatever you feel like.
I pay well and am considered as "fair" - it is a win win and I must be able to trust you with Maya who is the most important person in my life! Look forward to hearing from you!
Family's Message to Au Pairs
Please note you must be an EU National !!!
We are a Swedish family of 2 in Lausanne. Maya is 8 and goes to the International School of Lausanne so her homework and studies are in English. We have had an au pair since Maya was very little, and I have been an au pair myself so I know what it is like. You must be selfgoing, independent and mature, ready to take responsibility and "manage" your day yourself. Maya is athletic and loves sports. If you enjoy alpine skiing Lausanne is fantastic - takes only an hour to go skiing. You also have plenty of time during the day to take French lessons, I can help you find an excellent school. We live in a house about 4km from the centre of Lausanne and 1 km from Maya's school. I am Swedish but studied in France and lived in many countries. Maya is adopted from Calcutta India (her dad is Indian) and she speaks Swedish English and some French. Her dad lives in London, we are divorced since 3 years; she goes there once a month and sometimes on her holidays. You can also take her there and spend a few days in London. In winter we ski a lot, she is an excellent skier and I love it too! I work in executive education part time and travel every 2 weeks for a few days, and then you need to manage Maya alone, so I must be able to trust you with her. As I am a single working mom I need you to take this serioulsy as a "job" during the week - as I said I normally pick Maya up on Fridays at school so you are free from then on until Monday morning. If you are used to manage yourself and your work or studies, you will have a lot of free time and there is plenty to see and do around here! Look forward to heariung from you. Gunnel
