| Dear Host Family,
My name is Amanda and I’m 20 years old, I’m Brazilian and was born in São Bernardo do Campo, but I’ve lived in Sorocaba since 1998. Sorocaba is in the state of São Paulo, it’s small, but very busy. The weather goes from one extreme to another, sometimes very cold then very hot. I live with my family: my father Oséias (50 years old), my mother Maria Rita (49 years old), and my second oldest sister Camila (23 years old). We also have pets; two playful dogs, one of them has been with me since I was 4 years old. I also have an older sister, named Aline (28 years old) but she doesn’t live with us anymore. She is now married and has a beautiful little daughter named Larissa (2 years old). We’re very close and we have a great relationship. My sisters and I were raised with a good appreciation of education.
I’m studying tourism at the University (Universidade Federal de São Carlos) and I work with my dad in our bookstore, because of that I “needed” to learn more about organization, responsibility, honesty and flexibility. This knowledge is very important to maintain relationships with people from other cultures.
I’m a friendly person, creative, open-minded, calm and patient. I like to experience different things. When I was young I took ballet, theater and swimming lessons. Now I sometimes play volleyball, ride a bicycle or rollerblade and walk a lot. I like to do crafts and cook. In my free time I like to listen to music, read books, go to the movies, visit museums and go to parks. I also enjoy going out with my friends, getting to see new places and do outdoor activities.
My experience with children began when I was 13 years old and I visited my uncle and my aunt on all my vacations, they have two kids Tatiane (now 12 years old) and Gabriela (now 5 years old). I took care of them during my whole vacation up until 2 years ago when I began working with my father. We always played together, went out to parks and shopping, watched movies, read stories to them and sometimes I bathed and dressed them. They really liked to spend their vacations with me. Nowadays, during their vacations, they come to my home and stay here for one or two weeks. I also spend some weekends with my niece, she is little and very funny, we play with her toys and walk around the condominium where my sister lives. Another experience with children was in my voluntary work where I played with them, put them to bed and fed them. During this volunteer experience I realized that children are very special, because they make us love them in a second even if sometimes they are terrible.
To be Au Pair and live with an American family will be a great experience to improve my English skills and learn more about another culture that will increase my job opportunities when I return to Brazil. Besides this, to be Au Pair is a great way to help my self-knowledge and overcome my limits, and all this doing something that I like – taking care and enjoy being with children.
I can't wait to find the right family and hope to hear about you.
PS: I’m with Cultural Care Agency
Sincerely,
Amanda |
