Au Pair/Nanny job description

Dear Au Pair: This position gives you mornings thru early afternoons free, so if you're interested in taking classes online or at local colleges, or want "personal time", this is a great job for you! We would like our au pair to give us an hour or two of housekeeping/laundry during the day before our daughter comes home from school at 3:30 pm, and then take her "out and about", shopping, getting Chinese (her favorite!), do different activities with her or hang out at home if that's what she wants. After helping with the dinner dishes, evenings are pretty relaxed. You'd be finished by 8:30-9 pm. This is a 6 day-a-week position with weekend coverage (weekend hours are more like a regular job, i.e. 9-5). I don't have a preference as to which weekday you take off, so that's up to you. We're very flexible, so if something came up where we needed to occasionally tweak the schedule, that shouldn't be a problem. We are looking for U.S. CITIZEN CANDIDATES ONLY.

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

Dear Au Pair: We are a close-knit family living in beautiful Rockland County, New York, about 30 minutes north of New York City. Our 18-year-old daughter is autistic, and we are presently looking for a young lady to be an au pair/companion for her. Please see the "Job Description" for details to the position. Our daughter is very friendly and affectionate, has enough language to make her wants and needs understood, and is pretty self-sufficient insofar as daily living skills go, ie dressing, showering, etc. We live in a large log home and our au pair with have her own bedroom with balcony and private bath. We spend our summers at our lakefront house in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains, in upstate New York. It's important for our au pair to be friendly, kind, responsible and want to make a difference in somebody's life. We're pretty happy people, and cheerfulness, helpfulness and honesty are very important to us. We also have a 16-year-old-daughter at home who attends high school, and she's also very friendly and a lot of fun.
