| Dear Family,
I apologize that my picture looks so serious! Unfortunately, I do not have many photos of myself on this computer. In fact, I am a fun-loving girl who loves to laugh.
I am a college graduate who loves kids and traveling and wants to improve my French! I can think of no better way to combine these passions than to be a nanny! I am between my undegraduate studies and masters studies, and during this period I would love to be a nanny in Switzerland or France.
My main goals as an au pair or nanny are to: be a useful part of your family, spend quality time with kids, experience Europe, and practice my French-speaking skills.
I am from Alaska, and I love to travel. I have spent a lot of time in western North America, Australia, New Zealand, and South America. I have always wanted to spend a substantial amount of time in the Swiss Alps, because I love mountains and snow and I love the French language.
I have taken French in classes for seven years, but I have never had the opportunity to put what I learned to the test - to speak French in everyday life. This is the next step in becoming fluent in a language, and I can think of no better way to practice/learn French than as a nanny in Switzerland!
My ideal situation would be to work as a nanny in a small mountain village in the Alps. I love the mountains, and I love the intimacy of small towns. However, I am very flexible and will consider lots of other situations as my main goal is simply to spend time in Switzerland with a wonderful family, care for their children, and speak French.
I also love animals, especially cats. I would love to work for a family that has pets, or lives on a farm!
A little more about me: I grew up in Alaska, the second child of two ornithologists. My parents study birds, and I spent my childhood summers helping them with research in north-west Alaska. Over the years, I developed passions for animals, the outdoors, hiking and snowboarding, baking, writing, reading, photography, and violin (fiddling). In university, I studied Ecology and Nature Writing, and I hope to get a further degree in Ecology and Conservation. I also went to culinary school, where I studied Baking and Pastry Arts under two French chefs.
I have worked for two summers as a nanny for a young girl (5 years old when I started, now 7 years old) in Denali National Park. She is the light of my life and the twinkle in my eye, and I am excited to spend time with more children like her. Now my brother has a daughter, 2, and is expecting a second child in January, and I love to spend time with them.
Most of all, I want to be part of a great family and have a great experience! I am a hard-working, trustworthy person who takes my responsibilities seriously and I have lots of references for you to choose from. I look forward to hearing from you and cannot wait to be a part of your family! |
