Nanny's Message to Families

Dear Future Family, I am a 22 year old American who is looking for a wonderful family to be a live-in nanny for at least a year. I come from a large, very loving and supportive family, and I consider this experience to be the foundation of my passion for being a nanny. My greatest attributes are my cheerful demeanor, flexibility, and preparedness for each day. Currently, I am finishing up my English & Literature Degree at my local state university and will be available to start in mid-May 2010. (Hopefully a French language minor will also be a part of the degree, as I enjoy all things francophone). While I have been going to school, I have gained more than 1 year of nanny experience with a four-child family (G-10months,G- 2.5,B- 5,B- 6). I make sure they are fed, dressed, and clean throughout the day. I have developed a bedtime routine with the two older children which helped them to ease into a quiet and gentle bedtime experience. I communicate all important and relevant information about the children to mom and dad during the day. I have experience with newborns, infants, and toddlers. I love to take kids of all ages to parks, libraries, museums, and local community events. I often have arts and crafts projects planned since I love to play games and puzzles (especially making up scavenger hunts), do outdoor activities and sports, experiments, and also read with children. I also encourage children to create and choose their own play. Playing with children and seeing them gain knowledge and personality through play as learning is very rewarding. I have a strong experience in childcare, and help out a couple of other families occasionally during the year. I also like to cook often, and I can whip up yummy, healthy meals. I have a driver's license with an impeccable record. Outside of my love of children and nannying, I like reading, art, music, and travel. One of my greatest achievements was two years ago when I traveled solo in France and Spain for a couple of weeks. I love getting to know new children, families, and cultures, and I would love to be a helpful addition to your family.
