| My name is Maira, I’m 26 years old and I live alone in Sâo Paulo city my family there’s my mother, my sister and my grandmother, my father died in 2001. I have also a cousin of 8 years old who has lived with my mother for long time and I’ve helped my mother to take care of him, I like to take him to play in different parks, to the movies and also entertainment parks. In my free time I love practicing sports and go out to travel or to dance. I’ve taken up theater classes since I was 15 years old. Currently I’m acting in a play with my group I’m an active person, full of energy.
I graduated in Pedagogy in 2005 and since then I’ve always been doing extra courses in the area, reading articles, going to work shops to learn about the new tendencies of area. I’d like to do a post graduation in my areas focusing on childhood and after a doctorate. I’ve been working with children since I was 19; my first experience was in a shelter with children from 2 to 6 years old after that I’ve worked with children from 6 to 14 years old. I’ve worked for 2 years with this age in a place where the children used to go after school to develop cultural and artistic activities. I also helped them school homework. After this I’ve passed in a mayor concurs and started working with children from 0 to 3 years old. It was in 2004 and I’m there until now. In this period I’ve worked with children of different ages, but for 2 years I’m working only with infants from 1 to 2 years old and I’ve been in love with this age group.
I’d like to become an au pair for several reasons. The main reason the opportunity of learning English and live directly to an American family, but also to know about the cultural differences, meet new people, know the education system (this information can be used in my post graduation) I think with this experience I’ll also know myself better and grow as a person. |
