I am a retired teacher of English( MA) , a widow, with great work and life experience that I gained during the years spent at various schools with kids&teenagers and adults from 25-65 . In the meantime, I raised my daughter , took care of my old parents, managed everything around the house, from fixing lunch, cleaning the flat, paying the bills, etc. to changing light bulbs! I've been taking care of my grandchildren for 10 years( Sara,10 Stephen, 3). I'm a great help to my daughter in the upbringing and educating of our angels. I simply adore them and there's nothing I wouldn't do for them.
In 1973 I spent two months as a Nanny/ Nurse at a Children’s Home in Stoke-on-Trent, England with children from 1-8 yrs During 1992 I worked at a Kindergarten ( kids from 4-6 yrs), it was a part-time job.
During the summer of 2004 I spent 2 months at a Home for the Elderly and worked nurses, helped the residents get dressed, eat, drink.... talked to them, comforted them and answered their questions. I gained the ability to be patient, tactful and helpful with them. They enjoyed my company and proved to be very satisfied and content. My love towards them always helped me to find the best way to get near them and help. I loved my job very much.
My motto is that everybody has the right to live a happy life no matter how old or healthy they are. I looked after my aunt who suffered a stroke for three years , from 2011 to 2014. I was doing all the work that was to be done in a household. I helped her move, walk in the flat and do as many things as possible own her owne loved being with me as we also chatted on different topics: films, arts, cultures, theatre, travelling and so on. And, above all, we laughed a lot so time passed really fast for us. I would gladly be a companion to an elderly person, help her, run everyday errands, also have fun together and enjoy life!
I possess a First Aid Certificate and a Manual Handling Certificate and very good references.
I am open to new ideas and learning new things. I have a solid knowledge and a great interest for history, arts , literature, foreign language learning and teaching. I am still very active, outgoing and can adapt easily My favourite pastime is walking in the country with friends and , in the meantime, chatting about everything . Swimming, yoga, music and reading are just some of my hobbies.
