Complaint >> Posted: Aug 08 '07 by florina in Bucuresti, Romania |
| I've been an aupair for a family who contacted me via your site, for the last 3 months. At the begining everything was okay (for a month), since I made a dent in their car and some scratches. The contract they showed me (because we didn't singned it), said that if I have an accident with their car, I will have to pay half of the excess amount of the car assurance. As I had a little accident in their front yard, when I tried to reverse the car (nobody was injured), they told me that that will find another aupair, more confident in driving, bu I agreed to pay as the contract was saying, feeling very guilty and embarassed, even they never showed me a recepit, or a bill to see how much they payed for fixing the car. More than that I ve recently found out it's not legal to put your aupair to pay the assurance. So I agreed to work 3 weeks for free, till I will pay half , which they told me will be £250. As they payed me with £80 per week (for 40h/week), I worked 3 weeks without any pocket money. After those 3 weeks has finished, they told me that I will have to pay ALL the excess amount of the assurance, which now they told me it is £400. Therefore, I had to work for free, 8-12 hours per day, 5 days/week, without any pocket money, for the last 5 weeks. More than that, when I tried to remember them about the contract, they became very angry, and they didn't even speak with me since, but about my duties only. So this family, who is still searching for another auapir through your greataupair site, is treating her aupairs like slaves.
More than that you will work more than 8h/day. Also, they won't treat you as a member of a family how they promissed, but as a servant: they won't take you with them if they go out for dinner, and if they will, they will put you to pay for the food/coffe you ordered. Also the father doesn't have any common sense, he farts, burp, swears etc in front of you and the children. They want your door's room to be always open, and they always walk through your room, disturbing you, so you'll never have any kind of intimacy. You will eat everyday boiled pastas, boiled corn and boiled vegetables from frozen, nothing else, because they are on diet and they don’t care of you that much to buy you additional proper food. (I lost 5kg in their house).
I would like you to be very much aware of this family, which is a disgrace for this site; I ve already spoken with the police,a lowyer, home office and Employer Trial Tribunal, and I hope I will get my money back soon, thanks to the British Justice |
