We fired Sonya on July 10th 2007 for child endangerment and neglect. Now I see she is back looking to work with children only a day later and am terrified for anyone who has children not yet able to speak for themselves and unable to report her behavior. That said, She may be fine with older children as they would be able to speak for themselves but parents of young children please please beware. She is too young and unfit to care for anyone under the age of four. She left our 16 month old twins unsupervised for hours at a time while she spent time in another room on myspace and various other sites (you can check log in times and sites visited through your hard drive) and mainly speaking on her cell phone. We found this out two days ago when we asked a neighbor to secretly check up on what was going on in the house. We did this because my alarm bells rung when my usually very happy children would grow sullen when she arrived in the morning and scream when I even stood up to leave the room. I figured out it wasn't seperation anxiety when my sister babysat this weekend (she rarely sees the kids) and they were still giggling when my husband and I left the house) Please also know that besides serious neglect while they were awake, I have come home early to find her passed out on our couch with the baby monitor beside her head when the children were sleeping. My son woke up and was crying for ten minutes before she even batted an eye at that monitor. Please do not be fooled by her. Sonya has issues with the truth. She has changes her photo to a respectable yearbook photo. Also please know she smokes and does so on the job. When confronted she lied and said she didn't. I of course knew she did as she smelled and told her it would be okay as long as the boys were napping when she did it and washed throughly afterwards and never never around them. She still lied and said her shirt smelled from the night before. Two days later her cigarettes were openly and disrespectfully sticking out of her purse displayed on my kitchen counter. I hate confrontation so began throwing them out, stick at a time hoping she would get the message. Eventually she did and the purse was zipped. But the lies mounted and mounted. She will "stage" your house before you get home to make it look as if your children had a busy and fun day. Toys will be rolled out, books laid out, and baby gates will finally be taken down where children were once kept for hours at a time. Please do not trust this girl with your children and do not be fooled by the cutesy image she will portray. My family was very fortunate to have good, although late, instincts and a very persistant and snoopy neighbor.
