| I made an offer to Stephanie, we had agreed to a salary and a start date. I gave my current au pair notice and continued to correspond to Stephanie with reference to travel arrangements, travel reimbursements and hosting her fiance who was driving her up. Paul, her fiance, also arranged a job interview for while he was staying with me and I even did some research in our local classified ads for him. I agreed to have her bring her dog, we exchanged emails/pictures of furniture she wanted to move into my house, and she emailed my children multiple times telling them how excited she was to be joining our family. THEN she stopped communicating less than a week before she was supposed to leave. Megan, my current au pair left on schedule and I was left hanging.
I am a single, professional mom, and I have no back up childcare. I have also had nannies for 6 years, so I am very confident that I understand terms of employment and commitment agreements. I wouldn't want this to happen to another family. |
