| Crystal was with our family for two years. At first everything worked out fine, but Crystal eventually got complacent in her duties. On two separate occasions, my daughter and my neice both cut their hair while playing with scissors and she never noticed. The second time when my daughter did it, Crystal was in my teenager's bedroom looking for other nanny jobs (on this site and others) and paying her bills online with my daughter's computer instead of supervising the children in the kitchen while they played with scissors. We took Crystal with us on a family vacation to Florida. While there, we gave her money to spend on food/drinks while with our teenager. She gave me a receipt for what she spent, but when I asked for the remainder of the cash, she said she must have lost it somewhere because she couldn't find it. It was only $40, but this was also not the first time she misplaced money that was supposed to come back to us.
Crystal spent a lot of time at the end of her employment lounging on my couch, texting friends, using our computers, and generally relaxing instead of FULLY interacting with my girls. We gave her the tools she needed to set up a classroom situation in the basement play area, but she NEVER took advantage of it, even though she is in school learning early childhood education and should have been using some of that knowledge on our kids. That is what she promised us in the beginning, but we never saw anything of the sort.
Two years ago, I fully trusted her and was happy to have her around. She became too comfortable in her surroundings and became a bit lazy and too comfortable. |
