| If you enjoy poor hospitality, being woken up at 5:30 a.m. every morning by screaming children, and listening to a woman's complaints about her depression, than this is the family for you!
I arrived in Prague on January 14th, from Canada, to be an au-pair for the Budik family. We had spoken many times before on the telephone, and through e-mail. They seemed like great people with loving children. When I got there, I noticed that this was not the case at all, but just assumed that it was because I was new, and they didnt know me. Things just started getting worse and worse. The kids were disrespecful, and knew that all they had to do, was throw a tantrum in order to get what they wanted from their parents. I am pretty sure that the Budik's have never taught their children the meaning of 'no', and the kids certainly get their bad behaviours from their 'utensile-throwing' mother. yes, you read that right! After her fit, I isolated myself a bit from them. They then told me that I was too shy for the job, and asked me to change my 'attitude' or leave. So I left. They did not give me a drive to the train station, nor to the airport, or try to work things out with me. They did not call to see if I made it back home safely.
I totally feel as though I was cheated and lied to. I am not posting this to be ignorant towards the family, but to help prevent this happening to another young woman that wants to be an au-pair for the Budik's. Best of luck! |
