Hello! Since I joined the workforce at 19, I've always felt my calling to be a nanny. In 14 years I've provided nanny services across Canada, the US and Hawaii and Switzerland. I have experience working with all ages, but I especially love to care for children aged three and younger. In my years as a live-in, I've learned to adapt to many different kinds of family environments. I have worked for kosher families, military and single parent families, children with ADD /ADHD, epilepsy and parents in the film industry. I consider myself a very flexible and easy going employee, who strives to go above and beyond the expectations of my employers. I love cooking and have provided the families I've cared for with tasty, healthy meals for many years! I love the challenge of getting a picky eater to try and learn to love new foods. I'm comfortable around pets, and am happy to have them be a part of my responsibilities. I spent two years working in Tofino, BC as a supervising housekeeper in high end resorts, which taught me to clean in an efficient, time saving manner. I thrive in orderly, organized environments, as well as routines - although always with room for flexibility. I am in the process of getting my drivers license. I do have my Learners and have completed a Driver's education coures. I require some more driving practice though, before I will feel comfortable with my ability to drive children. With that said, I have always enjoyed walking places with the children I care for, and am completely comfortable taking public transit with children. I have done this in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary on a regular basis. I have a valid Canadian passport and am willing to travel with the family, if required. I also have my 'landed citizenship' card and my Social Security card which allows me to live and work in the United States. I love to spend much of my time with children outside, weather pending of course. Indoor activities can be anything from arts and crafts (I'm very crafty!), making forts, baking or cooking, reading, singing or dancing. The list really is endless. I love going with children and introducing them to special places and discovering new things like the zoo, aquarium, parks, library and science centers. I have done a great deal of overnight work with different families while parents were out of town working, or caring for children while their mother was in hospital, and I am very comfortable and confident of my ability to take charge in the role of sole caregiver when required. For the last year I have worked as a Teacher's Assistant at a preschool, and have loved being surrounded by so many wonderful children. While i was working at the preschool I obtained my Level One Child Care Certificate. I have impecable references from many families I've worked with over the years, and am more than happy to share them upon request.
Thanks for your time, I look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, Kira
