| Au Pair job description |
| Get the kids ready. In the morning the kids have to be dressed up, have breakfast and you will bring them to school (within walking distance). In the afternoon as of 3 p.m you have to pick them up and play - or whatever you like- with them, at home, outside or in the park. They are young, so you have to be creative and patient, and the kids will love you. It is not a must to speak dutch, but it helps you a lot with the children. We speak English. During the day, you can do the shopping and do some housework. You will cook for the kids and have dinner with the kids and put them in bath. Normally, in weekends, you can do what you like, unless if one of us has to work and than we change the working ours a little bit. |
| Family's Message to Au Pairs |
| Dear au pairs. We have just found a new au pair, so we thank you all for your nice letters and wish you all the best, finding a family!
We are a a nice happy family living in amsterdam, close to the parks, museums and centre. We have 3 kids, 2 girls who will be by the end of this year 6 and 8 and a boy of 4 years of age. We both work close to our house but sometimes irregulary. We have to cats at home and hope you you like pets. The current aupair from Puerto Rico is leaving us after a great year by the end of this year and we are looking for a a new aupair who is independant, caring and helpful to our kids. In the morning the kids have to be dressed up, have breakfast and you will bring them to school. The oldest two (Puck and Keet) go to a well known school (5 days) in the neybourhood and Ties goes as of december 2009 to the same school. It is all within walking/biking distance! In the afternoon you have to pick them up and play with them. The girls, typical girls: love the colour pink, cloths, singing and dancing but are learning how to write and to read at school, so it would be great if you want to help them a bit. The girls already have English at school, but in a very basisc way, like to read, the library, drawing/painting and love the vondelpark which is als close to our house. The boy Ties wants to play tipical boys things and laughs a lot. He is learing how to bike! Amsterdam is a great city to live and to explore. Too many things to do. If you love history, culture, we have everything within walking distance. Amsterdam is a big international city in The Netherlands but is not so big comparing with other european cities. A safe city! We arranged for you your own appartment in house. Our former au pairs loved their appartment and made friends for live, by meeting other young people! We know that it is not easy to find someone who speaks Dutch as well, but nevertheless it would certainly help, especially having contact with the children, but it is not a must!. However, you shall be able to follow a course and if you like languages you will pick it up easily and perhaps you can start learning it a bit before you come to Amsterdam. The children are familiar with aupairs and babysitters who speak english and that goes fine We do hope that you will have a great time with our family and that it feels to be a part of our family. Hope to hear from you soon.
