| Au Pair's Message to Families |
| Dear family I am Khwankaeo . My nickname is “Ai”. Now I am 23 years old. I graduated B.A. in sociology and anthropology. During school off, I always join camping activities. Once I have been to a camp to give guidance about further education for senior high school students. The activities were to give advice about how to prepare for entrance exams, how to choose faculty and gave news about various programs and university quotas that were currently accepting students. The second camp I went was a Children’s Day camp. This camp was held at a school in Kanchanaburi, close to Myanmar border. We organized a children’s day party. The children, their parents and villagers in that vicinity came to join the activities. At the party we played musical chairs, balloon-stomping, singing and other games. We gave rewards to the children who won each game and joined the activities. The third camp I attended was a mangrove forest-planting camp at Chonburi province. We provided education guidance to the students who participated, and mangrove planting activities. We went to the canter where they cultivate mangrove seedlings, and we learned about how mangrove forests are important to the eco system. Then we went and planted seedlings. The last camp I would like to talk about is a multi-cultural exchange and learning camp organized by the Commission on higher Education and Thammasat University. I submitted an application and was accepted to join. The multi-cultural exchange and learning camp was organized so that camp members could learn about the state a Thai society, in which there is cultural, ethnic, language and religious diversity. A diverse society is none the less able to survive happily. The camp members were obviously diverse in regards to ethnicity and religion. Some members were Muslims, who had to perform pray to Allah, which caused the camp activities to pause, or not begin on time. However, everyone in the camp accepted each other and learned about each other, in order for the camp to proceed smoothly and accomplish all goals. The experience I gained in these camps is valuable, teaching me different things from everyday life. I learned how to adjust to new surroundings, new society, and new friends and learned how to understand different societies in order to live peacefully in the midst of diversity. Besides, it taught me to share good things with others. The reason why I would like to be Aupair. I hope and expect to improve my English skills by being an Aupair in The United Stated for a year or more. I would like to learn different culture and gain new experiences. I am ready to be in the new environment and new culture because it is a challenging to learn. I have an adopted family. My adopted mother is bi-racial Thai-French, and my “father” is French. My adopted mother teaches psychology at the university where I study, and I’m one of her students. I’m close to her. She often takes me sightseeing, and one time when her husband came to Thailand, she took me to meet him and we all went out sightseeing together. When we go out, people always ask if I’m her daughter. “Yes”, they say. “She is our adopted daughter” My “mother” once said to me, “You are the only one of my students that I brought to meet Roger, and he said you’re our daughter. That shows he’s quite fond of you.” Ever since I’ve been their adopted daughter. Whenever he comes to Thailand, they take me on excursions, like to the seashore or mountains. My adopted father can’t speak Thai, so I must talk with him in English. He comes Thailand once a year but each time he spends 3-4 months. Childcare experience, I was a volunteer teacher at kindergarten at Lampang province. During 1 May – 30 June 2008 from 08.00 a.m. – 05.00 p.m. I took care of two years old and upper. My routine jobs were letting them exercise in the morning, doing art works, teaching them how count the number, singing a song. I taught them how to feed, brush their teeth by themselves and put them to bed. (afternoon) Moreover, I am babysitter 2 years old 4 months boy. His name is “ Dew” I let him read picture books, teaching homework, play with him, go to the park, ride tricycle. He loved to play in the playground and I used to be a babysitter of “Dear” I helper her mom to take care her. I preparing bottles, testing milk and changing nappy. I have been driving a car for almost a year, but I applied and got a driving license on June, 2009. One thing that worry about when I have to drive in the US because in Thailand wheel is on the right hand side, which is opposite side in the US . Therefore, I think I have to take more time to get used to with road and driving in the US. Hopefully that my personal data and my qualification mentioned above would match your interest or your desire. It would be glad if I could be a part of your family. Ai |
