Au Pair/Nanny job description
Hello and maybe welcome to New Zealand . . . .

Our current au pair will be moving on in the last week of November 2009, so we are looking for another special person who can come sometime just before or very soon after. We have really enjoyed having au pairs over the last couple of years, and will do our best to make sure that you have a great time during your stay here . . . . .

If you joined us, we would want you to become like one of the family, and would treat you as such. Think "big sister". Please respond if you are open, honest and reliable. Previous au pairs have become good friends during and after their stay with us. Mariska, our current au pair would love to hear from you and tell you about New Zealand life, and life with us . .. There is a self-contained flat 10 meters from the house - stay there, or if you prefer then use a spare bedroom in the house. We respect your privacy and freedom whilst staying here; the kids are not allowed in your flat, for example

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies
Dad and the kids enjoy being a little silly at times. . . Lots of dancing to loud music, jelly fights and horsing around, relaxed fun but also teaching good values to the kids.

We are separated - Mum and Dad share the care of our 4 children. You are only expected to help me out for 50% of the week, the rest of the time is yours to do as you wish . . . . . .

We live in a 5 bedroom house, with a 2 bedroom self contained flat next to the house. Our house has its own land with native forest and also a small farm - with Max the soppy dog, Witter the minature pig and Batman and Goldilocks the young chickens living around the home.

We also have a few sheep and cows on the farmland, with its own river that you can walk down to and swim or kayak any time you like.

The beach is 10 minutes away, and although we look out onto countryside, we have neighbours and are only 10 mins drive from the city center.

Tauranga is a sunny seaside town next to a popular 40 mile long beach. It is close to everything that NZ has to offer; skiing, hot pools, geysers, volcanoes and bush etc.

I am active with the children, and you will love them. We are always going off on adventures here and there . . . .

The children love going to the beach, down to the small farm and they occasionally \'help out\' there. You are not expected to help out with the larger animals, as we have somebody to look after the farm. Most au pairs enjoy driving the tractor though . . . . . . Kayaking on the river or off visiting hot pools or nearby waterfalls, beach, hiking . . . the children love doing anything out in the sunshine. We live 10 minutes drive from the city center. Tauranga and Mount Maunganui are holiday resorts where New Zealanders come to take their holidays, so it often feels like we are holiday all year round !

We are separated - Mum and Dad share the care of our 4 children. Sam-I-Am\' is 1 year old, he is very cute and also has Down Syndrome; at the moment Sam spends most nights at his Mum\'s house, but we get to see lots of him too ! Sam is very easy to look after, less demanding than other babies; he barely poops, sleeps when he should and never cries !

Ben is 9, into reading, computers, card / board games etc but just as happy kicking a football about or playing tennis.

Ella Bella Cinderella is 6. She loves her affectionate hugs and kisses. She loves having a \'cool big sister\' around to talk the girly talk to. She also enjoys swimming, tennis, princesses and anything pink. . . .

Nina Athina Ballerina is 3. She loves having you to herself a couple of days a week to read or play. She is very able, and wants to get into whatever the other 2 want to do. She recently started pre-school for a couple of days a week.

There is a granny-flat next to the house with bedroom, en-suite, phone, and kitchen / storage area. Our past au pairs have very much been part of the family and do as we do.

Work description: The kids stay at my home alternating Weds-Fri, or Weds - Mon so you would have a stretch of 2 or 5 days off every week. Whilst the kids are here, you need to be organised enough to help to run the house, and be proactive regarding the needs of the household. After school is finished, I often want to share in the homework / fun time with the kids. There is a fair amount of driving involved, so you need to be a confident driver. You would have exclusive use of your own car, and welcome to use it for your own traveling as you wish.

Mornings for the breakfast / school run involve helping get the kids ready for school, preparing packed lunch and taking them to their classrooms.

You would look after Sam and Nina during the daytimes when they are here. Prepare the evening meal and help keep the house clean whilst the children are here.

School pick up is at 3pm, from then until bedtime you would help me with them. I\'ll do the \'bedtimes\' but they are usually in bed by 7 - 8 pm, no problems.

During the school holidays I often get time off work, and help out with them.

When the children are not here, you are \'off duty\', relax at home or go out with friends, study, read, hobbies, travel, experience and see the best that New Zealand has to offer. You will have careful use of your own car, internet, etc.

I am housetrained, and work 2-3 days a week in healthcare work. I organise this so that I am often at home whilst the children are here. I love leisure time with the kids, sunshine and other simple things.

The work includes tidying, vacuuming, laundry and occasional ironing whilst the kids are here. The kids have their own chores to help around the house.

Your free time is your own, but as the children will look up to you, you shouldn\'t expose them to smoking in any way.
