| I am a fun-loving young woman who loves to spend time with children: influencing them, fostering their curiosity and inspiring them to give to and love others.
I love coffee, sushi and swing music. I like reading but go through spurts where I hardly read. I also love crime dramas like CSI and Without A Trace, otherwise I can do without television altogether. (But I secretly have a passion for Dora the Explorer and Pixar movies.) I love to fly and I love roller coasters--but not immediately after eating.
About my childcare philosophy: I talk to children like they are grown-ups, meaning I don't talk down to them or use a baby voice most the time. (Unless they actually are babies, then cooing seems rather appropriate!) I like to teach them about life, answering their questions about why things are the way they are. I believe that teaching them how to find answers and being okay with saying to them, "I don't know. Let's find the answer together," makes a big difference in the development of a child. They are just like me and just like you only smaller and not able to articulate their feelings or thoughts as well. But they are still people with likes and dislikes and fun-loving souls. I have just as much to learn from any child as they do from me. I find that mind-blowing and lovely all at the same time.
The most challenging thing about nannying especially in a live-in situation, is that I am going to have a hard time setting boundaries when I am "off the clock." But rest assured I will play and laugh with your children whether "on" or "off" and love them as the unique individuals they are.
The rewards much outweigh any challenges, however. I get to influence the next generation of young people to love and give back to the world. This belief of loving others and "giving back" stems from the idea that not all children are as privileged as the ones in America. I believe that we should teach our children that not everybody is rich and to value things like family--and love, which never fails, over money and fame. Although things like fame can be good, regardless, they don't last forever and they are meager enhancements to the love and family in one's life. As well, children are just fun! I love to dance around and jump to Disney music as much as the next little girl. I like running around the yard and playing catch with little boys. And it's always fun to splash in the bathtub or mush Play-Dough in your fingers! I may have passionate moments as far as my worldview, but I am still a child at heart.
I would love to be your nanny or au pair! |
